Everytown for Gun Safety (ETGS) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2004 by two gun owners from Woodbury, Minnesota. ETGS’ mission is to promote responsible gun ownership and protection through education and activism. ETGS also collaborates with local law enforcement to help reduce crime and protect the public. Woodbury, Minnesota is a town located in the St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,594 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. In 1871, they sold their land to John Hickey and his family who settled there for over fifty years. The name Woodbury was given to them by General George Armstrong Custer who died in 1885 near that community while on his way from Battle Creek to Miles City to lead an American cavalry regiment against the Sioux Indians during the Dakota War of 1890. In 1907, Theodore Roosevelt made it a county seat and changed its name to Woodbury after he became president that year. The post office operated until 1959 when it was discontinued because of consolidation with neighboring townships into Rockford Township.
