Creve Coeur is a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri. The population was 2,622 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson County, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area around Creve Coeur has been inhabited for over 12,000 years. The first people to live here were Paleo-Indians who hunted and gathered marine resources such as shellfish and oysters. They left behind evidence of their occupation including Paleolithic artifacts and animal bones. The next group to arrive were the French in the mid-1700s when they built a trading post hereabouts on what is now called Fort Osage. Over time, other groups migrated to this region including Germans, Irish, Scots-Irish, African Americans (including slaves), Mormons, and others. In 1852 an act was passed by Congress that designated Jackson County as part of Kansas Territory which included much of present day Missouri. This led to heavy European immigration into Missouri during the 1850s which resulted in a large change in demographics within the county seat at CreveCoeur! Most noticeably were waves of Irish immigrants who founded three major towns: Maywood (later renamed St Louis), Belleville (now Springfield), and Elk Grove Village; Chinese laborers who established several Chinatowns along Highway 9; German Catholics fleeing religious persecution in Europe settled at nearby Farmington; Japanese American Citizens Service Unit members from Japan interned during World War II among others arrived after 1945; all these new residents brought with them their own unique cultural experiences, values and traditions which have blended seamlessly into local culture since then! On November 3rd 1872 when General James Hays surrendered Oak Ridge Barracks just outside town limits to Confederate forces during Battle Of Little Rock he became one of many Union soldiers turned prisoners-of-war living inside city limits until Freedmen's Bureau agents took them away on November 15th 1865! A large number of men from Creve Coeur went off to fight for General George Armstrong Custer at Little Bighorn where they lost more than 200 killed or wounded! Many men from here also served honorably throughout World War I including US Colored Troops under USGen Douglas MacArthur commanding units such as 5th Cavalry Regiment (at Anzio) Many Crevecoeur veterans returned home following World War II and continues today with numerous veteran organizations like Veterans Memorial Day Parade/Gathering Every Saturday morning starting at 8am., Veteran's Day dinner offered every Sunday night beginning at 7pm., Fourth Of July parade starts down Main Street opposite courthouse every year on July 4th

Creve Coeur is a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. The town was founded in 1853 by General David Dixon and named after his French-Canadian wife Crevette. It became a city in 1899. Creve Coeur is located near Springfield and St. Louis. The first inhabitants of what is now Creve Coeur were French Canadian refugees who had come to Missouri as part of the Great Western Migration during the 1850s. They arrived at the mouth of the White River on July 15, 1853, and founded a village called Moulin Rouge which they named for their favorite operatic singer, Marie Antoinette (the name has been anglicized to "Moulin Rouge"). The refugees built themselves two crude houses near present-day Canal Street and developed a market economy based on fishing, farming, trading with other villages along the river, and prostitution. The city was organized on November 3, 1899 by an act of the General Assembly of Missouri under its then new charter formality known as "City Council Bill No. 5." The first mayor was Elisha Graves (1899-1901). At that time it had a population of just over 500 people living in scattered farmhouses around Canal Street and between Ironton Road and Shelby Street; about 100 men were employed in agriculture; most residents paid no attention to politics or community Affairs despite opportunities to do so through electioneering activities supervised from home or from local churches where pastors ordained candidates for office evangelicals like John Wesley Hardin ran unsuccessfully for City Council seats on two occasions (1897 & 1898). In 1902 when Omaha completed its final construction project across State Highway 8 south from Creve Coeur along US Highway 64 creating what is today downtown Springfield it finally linked up with major cities making possible closer trade with Europe direct via railroad instead of having goods transported downriver each season then carted off to be stored at various points before being delivered back upriver again during summer months while supplies dwindled due to lack of rainfalls thereby causing many farmers outmoded irrigation systems unable to cope with increased crop yields caused by lower water levels brought about by changing climatic conditions this greatly impacted rural economies however businessmen such as George Washington Carver gradually adapted growing crops high yielding cornbeans that resulted in heavier demand for water than ever before while also reducing water usage leading directly to increased profits these days milk producers have moved into urban areas doing business out there but still using private wells providing significant supplemental income) . . .
