Jennings, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 1,865 at the 2000 census. Jennings was founded by Dutch farmers in 1837. It became a county seat in 1857 and has since been located within Benton County. Jennings is named after John Jennings, an early settler. The first settlers were Methodist ministers who arrived from Kentucky in 1837. By 1840, there were eleven families living in Jennings and six businesses had been established: a store, a blacksmith shop, a wagon wheelwright shop, and two farms. In 1847, James Worthy purchased three thousand acres (1 km²) of land east of Jennings and began to build what would become the present-day town of Jennings on it. Worthy named his new town for John Jennings, an early settler who had helped him purchase the land. The first store opened on July 3rd, 1850; the blacksmithshop on October 15th; and the wagon wheelwright shop on December 12th that year. The original townsite contained only five buildings: a church building erected in 1851 by Worthy himself and dedicated as such; two stores; and one home/farmsteads with around twenty tenants/occupants). In 1861-1862 construction began on what would become Benton County Courthouse which was completed in 1865. In 1860-1861 United States Senator Orville Hargrave built what is now Jennings High School while he resided there during his term as senator from Missouri (1911-1920). In 1931-1932 Leland Stanford Junior bought much of present day Benton County for $25 million dollars makingJennings its official county seat also becoming its main cultural center (one of few rural American communities to achieve this distinction). A new courthouse was built between 1962-1964 at a cost of $2 million dollars which replaced the previous courthouse that had been destroyed by fire four years earlier (the old courthouse made fromadobe bricks had corroded over time). From this initial success, Scotland Yard followed suit with their own set of spears in 1829. These were made byGlencoe Forge in Edinburgh and were known as the Edinburgh Police Service stabbing implement due to their sharpness (they could still slice through fabric like butter). The idea behind these weapons was simple: if you wanted someone dead or incapacitated you simply stabbed them with your rapier-like weapon instead! Unfortunately, these swords didn’t last very long as they quickly became obsolescent against better designed firearms such as breech loading pistols which started appearing around 1830/1! Jennings, Missouri is a small town located in Buchanan County, Missouri. The population was 2,453 at the 2010 census. It has a rich history that can be traced back to the 1820s when Jennings was founded as a wagon stop on the Great Western Trail. The first settler in Jennings was David Jennings who arrived in 1825. He and his wife, Jane, started a farm which they operated until 1831. In that year, David and Jane's five children were born: James (1826-1904), John (1828-1920), Sarah (1830-1901), Daniel (1832-1912) and Phebe (1834-1900). All of these fathers had traveled with their families on the great road connecting everything from Ohio to California. When the Mormon missionaries came to Jennings in 1830, it was one of the most heavily populated towns in Missouri because there were so many people looking for new opportunities outside of Jefferson City. In 1835, when Jackson County become organized within Buchanan County, Jennings became its seat and continued to serve as such until 1863 when it became part of Bairdville. From then on until 1865, it served as an unincorporated community within Buchanan County before being transferred to Johnson County under statehood. The first post office opened in Jennings on November 15th, 1865 and remained open until May 1st of 1907 when it closed due to financial reasons. During World War II, local businesses helped support the military by manufacturing goods needed by troops overseas including food items such as bread and butter and cigarettes. After the war ended however, most industry left town for lack of customers or competition from elsewhere in Johnson County. By 1970 only about 10% of what used to beantz stores still existed downtown along with about half of all residences having been vacated since 1945 when growth began moving away from Jennings towards other parts of Buchanan County during the late 20th century brought few benefits for locals other than increased taxes which continue today albeit with less opposition from residents despite efforts by some officials over recent years
