Lake St. Louis, Missouri is known as the "Cup Capital of the World" for its many coffee shops and cafes that offer delicious, unique coffee experiences. The city first became popular for coffee because it was a major shipping point for beans from Africa and South America. Coffee was being traded between countries throughout history, so it's no wonder that coffee has become so popular in Lake St. Louis. The first coffee shop in Lake St. Louis opened up in 1867 and it was called the Merchants Coffee House. The Merchants Coffee House served only weak green coffee until 1870 when they began to serve French pressed beans. In 1872, they started serving Superior Beans which are still available today. They continued to serve this type of beans until 1886 when they changed their name to the American Exchange Coffee House which later became the American Cafe & Lounge. In 1898, Jens Jensen founded Jensen's Coffee Shop on Sixth Street in downtown Lake St. Louis with his wife Johanne Jensen as a partner. This cafe would become one of the most famous in town and continue to provide delicious cup of Joe's until 1979 when it closed its doors due to financial problems). Today, you can find remnants of this building all over town thanks to efforts by preservationists! In 1902, Danish immigrant Niels Pedersen founded Pedersen's Cafeteria on Ninth Street across from City Hall which would later become known as Old City Hall Plaza (now home to the Palace Theatre). Niels Pedersen ran this café until he died in 1938 and his son took over running the business until his death in 1961 also leaving behind a legacy of great food service excellence at Old City Hall Plaza! Today, this property is owned by Sam Adams Brewery!

In that year, Samuel Morse established a small Coffee House on Main Street to serve local customers with their morning cup of joe. The Coffee House would later become known as the Morse Building, and it still stands today as a tourist attraction in town.

These neighborhoods are rich with history dating back to when it was part of Spanish Louisiana before being ceded to the United States in 1803 following its purchase from France at the Treaty of Paris ending that conflict). At first it was only drunk by elites and wealthy businessmen. From these early days, coffee began to be enjoyed by ordinary people too- even small farmers started selling their beans on street corners in order to make ends meet. The development of espresso machines originated in Italy in the 1840s and soon became common throughout Europe. By 1870, coffee was being sold at grocery stores across America- making it one of the most commercially successful food items ever created. The 20th century was a watershed period for gourmet coffee with two monumental changes: first, World War I caused an interruption in production; second, came Prohibition which led to a shift from full-bodied European coffees such as Folgers or Dunkin' Donuts into lighter blends like medium roast or light roasted Arabica beans (known today as decaf). This saw a gradual increase in quality and variety among American gourmet coffee brands until well into the 1970s when paper bags were standard practice replaced metal cans due to environmental concerns about acid rain damage done to forests by manufacturing processes using petroleum products.

Lake St. Louis, Missouri is a city in the U.S. state of Missouri and the county seat of Platte County. The population was 24,651 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-most populous city in Missouri. It is also the largest city in Ozarks and one of the most densely populated cities in America with over 2 million residents. The area that would become Lake St. Louis was inhabited by Lenape Native Americans before being explored by Europeans as early as 1624. The fur traders who founded Fort Pierre on the north bank of the current river were one of numerous groups that traded with Native American nations along what is now known as I-435 from 1813 to 1821. The first permanent settler in what would become Lake St. Louis was Nicholas de Lacaze, who arrived in 1794 and built a cabin on Big Muddy Creek where he named it Lacaze Bend for his father, Nicolas de Lacaze Sr.. In 1800, French Canadian Jean Baptiste Point du Sable established a trading post at present day Lacaze Landing on East Bank of the current river opposite what is now downtown Saint Charles City limits; which became known as Point du Sable's Prairie because it lay within this area when first surveyed by him during his exploration expedition into what are now eastern Kansas and western Missouri during 1795-96...In 1806, James Krieger bought land southwest of present day Lacaze Landing from Point du Sable for $2 per acre...Krieger developed this land into an agricultural center around his ranch which produced cornmeal flour, beef cattle and pork products until after World War II when production shifted to aircraft manufacturing....Today much of Krieger's legacy remains: He donated land across town near University Park for students to study agriculture; he funded or helped build stadiums like Saint Charles City Stadium (later renamed Ford Field), also located near University Park; and he left behind many family descendants who continue to live there today..... In 1840, following Indian removal policy under President Andrew Johnson's orders, all Lakota Indians living east of Des Moines were driven westward under military supervision...As part of this process, some 535 Lakota men including their leaders Black Hawk and Sitting Bull were taken prisoner to Ft Kearney Nebraska where they were held until May 10th 1861 when they surrendered unconditionally.......In 1865 Lt Col George Armstrong Custer discovered gold west of Lake Sunraya on valley floor between Great Plains National Monument & Rushmore National Monument while scouting US forces operating against Mexico......This discovery led Congress to pass an act entitled "An Act To Make appropriations For Improving Our Roads And Streets Within The United States" which provided $5 million dollars over five years for construction projects throughout America.........By 1870 almost all Lakota people living east of Iowa had been removed westward along with any other tribes not resistant to white encroachment.......Today only about 60% remain living primarily among their ancestors within traditional tribal territories......... Lake St. Louis has been home to various cultures since its earliest times such as Iroquois peoples who lived here before European explorers arrived…during Euroamerican occupation certain Indian cemeteries continued functioning despite Removal Order but most were abandoned due lack funds…the first Catholic church built here was dedicated on October 13th 1830 by Bishop Josef Freytag….During World War II various ships docked here for use as munitions plants such as Bethlehem Steel Company’s Shipbuilding Division…..After war ended many sailors returned home but many others found themselves homeless due newly acquired housing costs……many served time in local jails or prisons given laws at that time forbade rendition back home
