Saint Ann, Missouri is a small town in Phelps County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. Saint Ann was founded in 1827 and named for the Virgin Mary. It is located on the confluence of the White River and the Osage River. The first settlers to Saint Ann were Hugh McGowan and John MacKenzie. McGowan built a log cabin on what is now Main Street in 1827. The original church was built in 1836 by Reverend James Auld from New York City as part of his missionary work in Phelps County. Saint Ann had its first election as a town government on November 3, 1838. In 1861, Saint Ann became one of thirteen communities that formed the Poplar Bluff Union Colony through an act of the Missouri General Assembly. The settlement grew rapidly due to gold discoveries near Saint Annes Ferry Road and help from nearby farmers who donated land for farming purposes and also set up stores and homes. By 1870, there were over 350 residents living in Stannsville Township with a school, store, blacksmith shop and wharf where boats could be anchored to catch fresh water during wet seasons. On December 20, 1880, local citizens erected a cross on what is now Prospect Hill after witnessing an apparition of Jesus Christ while driving down Prospect Hill Road (now Old US-640). At that time it was still considered illegal to erect crosses outside of urban areas so this event helped solidify Christianity as a prevalent culture among locals at this time. During World War II many jobs were needed at various military bases throughout Missouri but few people lived close enough to these locations so they could service their country however many residents volunteered or took direct orders to perform menial tasks such as labor or carrying equipment around without pay which often led to hours being spent working outdoors without any breaks or food or rest periods allowed

St. Ann, Missouri is a town in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It lies on the banks of the Missouri River and east of the city of Saint Louis. The first people to live here were the Potawatomi Indians who called this place "Moccasin Valley". They arrived about 1795 and did not inhabit this area anymore until 1825 when they moved downriver to what is now Kansas City. In 1835, General William Beall founded a military post at present-day St. Ann with twelve soldiers under his command. This was known as Beall's Expedition or Beall's Fort. He named it after his father-in-law, James Kielbasa (1768–1851), an experienced explorer and fur trader who had been born in Pomerania in Germany but immigrated to America in 1793 and settled near Dunkirk, Illinois on the Great Lakes region. In 1836 Beall sold part of his post for $4,000 to John Cranch (1785–1850), a general contractor from Independence, Kentucky who had come overland via Canada with Major Robert Patterson’s expedition into central Illinois during the year preceding their arrival there in November 1836. Cranch built a tavern on Post Road soon thereafter which became one of many businesses he operated throughout Hancock County outside Saint Louis. His trading post attracted traders from all over western Missouri because it offered easy access to goods available only by boat or wagon through rapids along the river below Stonington Ferry Bridge across theMissouri River at Jefferson Barracks south of Saint Louis proper; these traders brought items back upriver such as hides and furs that were processed here before being carted off again for shipment elsewhere within days or weeks by wagon or boatload to be sold at market prices by local merchants across downtown Saint Louis After several years of operations by him and other early proprietors including men like Jacob Gentry (1801–1876) and Elijah Howe (1800–1872) various improvements were added including a few buildings used as schoolhouses while others continued to be used as warehouses until 1840 when Congress placed a tax on transportation rates making shipping difficult so cargo stopped being developed here leaving much land undeveloped until after 1861 when steamboats connected this area withSaintLouisand made it possible for residents living inlandto commute directly into downtownSaintLouis
St. Ann was founded in 1796 by Father Gabriel Fenton and Mother Catherine Weldon. It was the first Catholic parish in St. Louis County. In 1853, the church became a cathedral and bishop John Gerard ordained its first priest, Fr. Michael O’Malley. The parish grew rapidly and by 1892 had over 1,000 members. On July 2, 1893, the present church building was dedicated with great ceremony by Bishop Gerard.
