Missoula, Montana is home to the Missoula Air Force Base and the United States Air Force's largest air force deployment gift history. The base was established in 1951 as a helicopter base and has grown into one of the most important strategic locations in the USAF. Other notable gifts include a truckload of foodstuffs sent during WWII by Colonel James Wickersham, Jr., founder of JCPenney Corporation; an engine assembly kit sent by General Dwight D Eisenhower when he visited MISSOULA in 1954; and orders totaling $2 million sent by President Lyndon B Johnson in 1969 after MISSOULA became part of THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE (USAF). There are three main categories of air force deployed gift: lifestyle items, technology gifts and special occasion gifts. Lifestyle items range from clothes to vehicles to tools. Technology gifts include computers, smartphones and tablets. Special occasion Gifts are typically a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant or store or an engraved invitation to a special event. Gift programs have been successful in providing unique and fun presents for military members, their families and friends since they were instituted over twenty years ago. With the increasing popularity of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, it has become more difficult not to send GIFs or videos of your loved ones just being silly while deployed!

Missoula, Montana is a small town located in the western United States. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Missoula County and the county seat of Missoula. The University of Montana's main campus is located in Missoula. The first European to visit what is now Missoula was fur trader George Vancouver on July 24, 1792. He named it "Nisqually" after his home village of Nisqually Hill in Kitsilano, British Columbia. On January 14, 1875, John C. Frémont founded the City of Missoula with a proclamation from US President Ulysses S. Grant declaring that it would be an unincorporated community within Butte County until such time as there were legal steps taken to incorporation under state law In 1876–77 businessmen George Wickersham and Elisha Hastings laid out a street grid plan for what became downtown Missoula which they christened Exchange Street In 1880 Fergus McMurtry organized local cattle drives into ranches that he called " drives" ranchers developed land north of town where they built houses and started a cotton gin and sawmill before turning to agriculture A post office was established at present-day Main Street in 1886 by Jno. Bickford Mr Wickersham leased lot 2 (now Fourth Avenue) across from First National Bank for $1 per year from 1888 to 1893 when he sold it to Dr James Mclntyre who operated the business until 1907 In 1902–03 Stonington Lodge No 1 (now 10th Avenue) was purchased by Mrs Gertrude Swanson for use as her musical lodge which she renamed MISSOULA SOCIETY HALL (later MOORE'S NEW HOLLAND BARBECUE HOUSE). Mrs Swanson also renovated part of LOT 2 along with additional property on 11st Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets which she donated to Moores School District #2 through SSD#2 vowing never again sell or lease any portion thereof without written consent from all members excepting their successors thereafter In 1909 Charles Goodyear began production at his northeast Minneapolis-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's plant northeast of town on Wilson Lake where he left two years later after his facility burned down due to overworking tires during World War I . After Goodyear's plant closed operations in 1970s production switched back to aluminum casting plants near Great Falls ,MT Meanwhile truck manufacturing continued at nearby Lapwoudah until 2002 when that operation closed too . As recently as 2006 there were still three lead smelters operating in west central Montana : Lumpy Lake mined copperminerals., Lewistown smelter produces high alloyed steel products., and Central Sulphur mine produces sulphuric acid for fertilizer . By 1870, Missoula had become an important stop along wagon routes running along both sides of the river connecting eastern Oregon with western Montana Territory; it also became a center for cattle ranching and mining operations that attracted people from all over America looking for new opportunities in these new territorieswestward expansion had begun which would soon include Missoula in its borders
