The first coast guard gift was given to the town of Somersworth in 1872 by Samuel Morse. The gift was a clock and watch. In 1916, the town donated three life jackets to the New Hampshire coast guard. In 1978, the town donated two mortar launchers and two shotguns to the National Guard. In 1992, the town donated a helicopter to the New Hampshire Coast Guard. In 2004, the town of Somersworth gifted a set of four lifejackets to the United States Coast Guard Cutter Northumberland for its service on Lake Champlain. The Coast Guard Cutter is currently stationed in Portsmouth, Vermont. In 2006, it was announced that $10,000 would be given to the Somersworth Community Foundation in honor of Captain Edward J. Foley who died in Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom on October 3rd 2005. Captain Foley served with distinction as commanding officer of Coastal Patrol Squadron 5 during his deployments throughout Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001-2005 including multiple patrols off Long Island Sound where he lifted anchor while search and rescue operations were taking place

The town was named for Captain George Somers, who was a military officer in the British Navy during World War I and later served as a member of the New Hampshire State Senate.
Somersworth, New Hampshire is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Passaic Metropolitan Statistical Area. The earliest known inhabitants of Somersworth were Native Americans who lived near present-day West Deptford Township and East Brunswick Township. The first European to visit Somersworth was Giovanni da Verrazzano on July 14, 1524, during his second voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. He named it "Rochester" after his hometown in Italy. In 1701, John Montresor bought land in Somersworth from Nicholas Biddle for £800 and built a log cabin on what is now US Route 9A. This was the first permanent settler in what would become Monmouth County. In 1814–1815 Colonel Edward Everett Hale served as Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey under President James K. Polk and helped found Princeton University; he also donated land for that institution on which today's Campus stands. In 1847–1848 HALE sold about 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of Princeton to form what would become Constitution Hill Park along with plans for an aggregate population of 1,000 people within 10 years; however no one came forward to take advantage of these plans and only 604 acres (2 km²) were actually developed or used for housing until 1949 when development began at Constitution Hill Park by Drury Homes Limited strip mall developers who rechristened it Somersworth Town Center after their company town in England – making it home to over 30% of the township's population It should be noted that while there are some traceable origins back to Indian/Native American activity hereabouts - there exists very little documentary evidence remaining substantiating any claims thereto whatsoever -thus ultimately creating much ambiguity surrounding such matters -regardless thereof! Nevertheless regardless - due predominately to historical considerations aforesaid hereinabove - aspects stemming from natives being either occupants or immigrants respectively during various aforementioned preceeding periods thereinbefound themselves rather unsurprisingly relatively abundant hereabouts throughout most if not all incarnations thruout most notably documented history ensuite thereby consequently resulting in overall preponderance thereof...in short: given how things have generally unfolded thus far as regards such Matters presently existing as regards residents & locals alike living & breathing hereinabouts circa 2011! - pretty much everything else falls into place pretty easily thereafter ;)

This allowed officers and residents of coastal towns and villages to purchase items related to their job or hobby including flags, uniforms, watches, anchors, tooth brushes etc. Gifts would also be sent back home with Presents From The Sea (PFTS) which were small boxes filled with various objects salvaged from ships that had sunk during World War I or II. These box chests became known as “Gift Caskets” because they often held several artifacts from different shipwreck sites around the world. In 1932, a new Headquarters building was constructed on Long Island which included a storeroom dedicated exclusively to gifts for members of the Coast Guard. This facility later became known as The Museum of National Defense (MND) due to its importance in helping promote maritime defense against threats such as piracy and international terrorism. Gifts continue to be given by the Coast Guard throughout its history; some examples include donated boats, patrol planes, helicopters etc., all of which are used today by our service members across America's Exclusive Economic Zone
Somersworth is a town in New Hampshire, United States. The population was 7,358 at the 2010 census. Somersworth first settled in 1756 and has been continuously inhabited since then. The town was incorporated in 1838. In 1915, Somersworth became the site of the world's first air-cooled turbine power plant, which produced electricity from air coolers to provide heat to homes during World War I.
The town of Somersworth was founded in 1797 by Major General John Glover. It was named for the Somersworth family, who had settled there in the late 16th century. Somersworth became a town on July 1, 1802. On November 3, 1868, it became one of two towns platted in what is now Manchester Township. The other town was Norwalk.
