The United States Army has been present in Beachwood since the Revolutionary War. The town was originally called Weston, and was part of New Jersey until it became a state in 1776. In 1802, General James K. Polk founded the United States Military Academy at West Point, which became the U.S. Military Academy at West Point School of Infantry in 1835. After his death, his son George Washington Polk Jr., served as President from 1865 to 1869 and 1870 to 1873. On November 25th, 1861, Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Act for the Regulation of Negroes Employment within the Armed Forces “which is known as the Civil Rights Act of 1863†amendment #2 giving African Americans full citizenship rights under law – this act made Beachwood an official post-war town in Union America. In 1936, World War II began with Germany's Invasion of Poland and American troops were called up to assist Europe against Nazi Germany; American soldiers manned many7 key posts such as Fort Monmouth (New Jersey), Salerno (Italy), Normandy (France), Anzio ( Italy) and Einsatzgruppe C in Austria concentration camps on their way back home across North Africa to help defend democracy against fascism while also providing food and medical aid to millions of civilian victims who perished during that time period; these duties brought AMERICAN soldiers into contact with some of history’s most notorious killers including Adolf Hitler himself – one soldier even shot him from a distance during an ambush! Beachwood, New Jersey has a proud history of being an Army Base. It was founded in 1892 as Camp Hudson and later changed its name to Fort Monmouth. The fort served as a base for the 5th Infantry Division during World War II and was also home to the 8th Airborne Division during the war. After the war, Fort Monmouth became an inactive military installation that was closed in 1978. However, it wasn’t until 1984 that Beachwood regained its status as an Army Base when it became home to the 3rd Battalion, 173rd Infantry Regiment.

As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 3,811 people living in Beachwood Township (including parts of neighboring Park Ridge and Saylorsville), which had a population density OF 715 per square mile (269/km²). There are no boroughs within beachwoods' borders; all residents are considered to live within beachwoods' borders regardless whether they reside in park ridges or saylorsvilles

Beachwood is a borough in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located on the south shore of Long Island Sound. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 5,209. The name Beachwood is derived from "Baywood" (noun), meaning an open field or tract of land near a small stream or bay, and "Wood" (verb), meaning to clear or cut wood. The first settler in Beachwood was Obadiah Coleman who arrived in 1786 and named it after his family's home of BayWOOD on Long Island Sound. In 1821, Nicholas de Grave moved to Beachwood from Dumfries Township and renamed it after himself, Nicholas Beachwood. In 1825, Commodore John Stevens visited Beachwood and recommended that settlers move to what he called "a beautiful piece of country." The following year James Aiken bought 1/4 mile east of present-day Main Street for $600 from Nicholas de Grave. He named it Craftsbury after one of his daughters who had married Samuel Craftsbury (1767-1837). In 1830 Parmenides Sargent settled on a farm two miles east of present-day Main Street with his wife Fannie and their three children: Alfred Payson Sargent (1831-1902), Clara Sargent Sargent (1833-1920) and Parmenides Augustus Sargent Jr.(1835-1912). It was here that he met Martha Lewisohn who would later marry George Washington Irving. In 1832 Parmenides Augustus Sargent Jr., along with four others founded the Monmouth County Agricultural Society which met at the home of Abram Jellinek until 1836 when they moved to Morristown because Jellinek's house became too expensively furnished. There they formed a committee to purchase some land which they did in February 1839 at an auction held by Solomon Bergeron for $6000 plus interest; this land included what is now Beechy Meadow Road between Mifflin Boulevard and Ocean Avenue today. They named their subdivision Seaside Heights after then Governor Richard Stockton’s daughter Emma Sands whom he married about 1840 at Red Hook Presbyterian Church where she attended services before returning home with her father New York City – Seaside Heights being adjacent to East Elmhurst Cemetery which still stands today as part of Bethpage National Park - although Emma Sands never lived there permanently! It wasn't until March 1850 when Samuel Crouse purchased 2/3 acre north side beach road between Mifflin Boulevard & Ocean Avenue for $1200 that Surfside began becoming known as Beachwood due its proximity to Sandsea Channel lighthousekeeper Nathaniel Parker's property across from Ambrose Bierce Elementary School now known as Neptune's PierWalk! On July 8th 1860 Isaac Brockman purchases 3/8 acre next door south side beach road at 6th Ave between Mifflin Boulevard & Ocean Avenue for just shy of $2000 giving him complete control over all beaches within “Surfing Side†including ever since! Although Surfside only consistedof 3 lots - bounded by 6th Ave NE, 7th Ave NW & 8th Ave SW - Brockman quickly begins building homes there including providing watermains (& drains) for each lot through out “Surfing Side†making him one OF THE FIRST HOMEOWNERS IN BEACHWOOD! By 1870 most everyone living in Surfside had left except Isaac Brockman who continued expanding his holdings even further developing parts now part Of Babylon Township including North Shore Drive today while also building new homes on properties extending into Babylon Township including Haddonfield Landing!
Beachwood was founded in 1768 by Nicholas Beach and his wife, Judith. In 1881, the town became a borough. In 1972, it became a city.
