The 4th Infantry Division was the unit that fought in the war and it is considered one of the most decorated divisions in history. It also has a rich military history dating back to 1861 when parts of what is now Delaware were bought from Britain as part of the Treaty of Paris following the American Civil War.
Dover, New Jersey is a small town located in Kent County, New Jersey. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. Dover is the county seat of Kent County. It is part of the Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area. The first settlers in Dover were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624. In 1777, the Treaty of Passaic ceded land near Dover to England as part of the Treaty of Paris which ended the American Revolutionary War. After spending time as an English military post and then as a French Indian trading post, Dover became a U.S. township on October 1, 1802. On October 3, 1814, it became a city charter under the name "Dover". The population peaked at 10,815 in 1930 but has since declined due to industry and other factors such as high taxes and limited housing opportunities for low-income residents within walking distance of downtown). In 1978 Dover Township merged with neighboring Lyndhurst Township to form Kent County Municipality (KCM), serving all of Essex County except for Weehawken and Hackensack which are still served by their own municipalities. KCM had until 2006 been governed by elected officials from each township while municipal services were provided by two separate boards - one responsible for public works and transportation; and one responsible for parkland management and recreation including fire protection services (the last Board was disbanded when KCM merged with Essex County). On January 1st 2006 all governmental functions were transferred from both townships to KCM through an act of the New Jersey Legislature known as Act No 08-0269 which changed all governing documents including titles to "Kenton Township Borough Council" effective February 1st 2006 - ensuring that all government functions would be centralized within one municipality where people could find information about services offered from both wards or from either side of Broad Street if they lived within walking distance thereof should they desire so Additionally every resident living on any property annexed into KCM must become registered with its respective board no later than 7 days after annexation ( existing registration forms can be found on website www.kentcountygov/empowerment/register ). On July 11th 2007 Dover Borough Council voted 9-3 not to annex any properties outside our walking distance boundary into Kent County Municipality effective immediately This vote follows similar votes passed earlier this year by council members concerning issues such as higher property tax rates & lack shelving available locally in addition to concerns raised about possible annexation next door into Sussex Co

Dover, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,569 at the 2010 census. As of the 2000 census, Dover had an area of 20.8 square miles (60 km2). It is bordered to the north by Summit Township and to the east by Freehold Township. The town's ZIP code is 07604. The first Europeans to visit what is now Dover were Dutch settlers who named it "Nieuwpoort" after a small river they sighted on their way from Newark to Weehawken in 1624. In 1821, Delaware and Hudson Railroad developers built a small track between Dover and Paterson in order to access new markets for produce that were developing in southern New Jersey. By 1825, the railroad had reached Dover and construction began on a depot-town complex that included a schoolhouse and several stores/cafés/hospitals. The town was officially incorporated as Dover Township on February 17, 1827. On July 1st of that year, residents voted 4-1 against incorporation into what would become Hunterdon County; this vote reflected opposition to joining any county with large open spaces within it (the township was located near where later townships would be created). Due to its strategic location within Hunterdon County - just south of Hackensack - Dover quickly became one of the most important agricultural communities in the county during its early years. A number of farms grew crops such as apples, honeydews (a type of grape), potatoes and oats; however manufacturing also played an important role in early days of Dover's economy with tanning being one especially important industry until 1886 when production switched over to leather products In 1830–1831 local farmers organized themselves into two groups which eventually became known as "The Farmers' Alliance" and "The Mechanics' Alliance". These organizations did much To promote agriculture throughout central New Jersey during this time period as well as build support for woolen mills outside Philadelphia which were becoming more prominent due to increased demand for cloth produced there On October 13th 1840 while campaigning for governor William Corder he made his first speech at an Agricultural Society meeting held at StateHouse thereby igniting a political career which would ultimately lead him to be Governor Of New Jersey Later that year on November 10th he married Mary Wigglesworth who bore him four children: Alice Garnett Corder (1841-1926), John Garnett Corder (1843-1920), Louise Garnett Corder (1845-1922) & Harry Edward Corder Jr.(1849-1929). That same year he ran for reelection but lost handily against incumbent Nicholas Fenton
