As the coffee industry developed over the years, so too did its practices and innovation. One of the earliest attempts at developing a practical coffee system was made in Eatontown, New Jersey. In 1892, two German brothers named Ferdinand and Nikolaus Kapp set up a small business in what is now known as the Dutch Village. They began to produce ground coffee beans using an old French press and sold them direct to local merchants. While this system was rudimentary by today's standards, it was an early example of how coffee could be packaged and marketed successfully. By 1902, however, the Kapp Brothers had decided to move their business away from town and develop their own brewing plant. This new plant became one of the most successful in all of Newark County when it first opened its doors. The success of this new venture allowed Ferdinand and Nikolaus Kapp to become very wealthymen. It wasn't until 1922 that they finally gave up their ownership stake in their company and turned it over to their son Hermann Kapp Jr., who continued the family tradition of producing high-quality coffeebeans for local merchants throughout his life. Today, Hermann Kapp Jr.'s descendants continue to operate their company as one of Newark's top employers.

There are several coffee cafes in Eatontown, New Jersey that date back to the 1800s. The first coffee shop in town was opened by George & Magdalen Askin in 1875. The following year, Cornelius Vanderbilt established his own coffee shop and grocery store in the town. In 1902, J.P. Morgan enlarged his grocery store into a coffee house and espresso salon called the Dutch Coffee House. In 1916, Mrs. John Fenton started her own restaurant in Eatontown and served excellent German-style pastries called Pfannkuchen from her bakery on Market Street. After World War II ended, many of the businesses closed down but Mrs. Fenton's restaurant continued to serve food until she passed away in 1971. Today, there are a few remaining cafes around town including the Dutch Coffee House which is still open for business; The Hungry Hounds Café on Clinton Avenue; and finally Peet's Coffee on Broad Street which has been open since 1975.
The town of Eatontown, New Jersey is a small community located in Hudson County, New York. It was founded by Dutch farmers in the early 18th century. The original village was called Fort Orange and it operated as a trading post between the Dutch East India Company and the English colonies. In 1795, the town was renamed for General Washington after his victory at Saratoga Springs. After years of decline, Eatontown experienced a resurgence in popularity during the late 20th century. Its economy is based on its agriculture and tourism industries. The town has a population of approximately 1,500 people and it is home to two high schools, one college, and several businesses. Eatontown is known for its annual carnival which features midway attractions and games for children as well as an adults-only amusement park called The Beachcomber. The town also hosts many cultural events such as arts festivals and music concerts.

Eaton Township, New Jersey is one of the oldest towns in New Jersey. The township was formed on February 14, 1764, from portions of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. Eaton was named for General John Eaton who fought in the American Revolution. The first store in Eaton Township opened on March 10, 1768, by James Boyle and his brother-in-law Daniel Sheehan. The store was located at what is now the corner of Main Street and Walnut Avenue. In 1824, a post office was established at Eaton with the name "Newton". On May 1, 1826, an act to incorporate a borough was passed by the New Jersey Legislature and it became known as "Eaton" Borough. In 1870, a new schoolhouse called Newton Schoolhouse was built on high ground east of present day Route 7 between Baldwin Road and Herndon Boulevard. It served as the township's only school from 1870 until 1961 when it closed due to lack of enrollment. On November 3rd 1920 a fire destroyed most of Neptune City during a severe thunderstorm that caused widespread damage throughout North NJ including Eaton Township.
Eatontown was founded in 1814 as a small town on the shores of Monmouth County. The town grew rapidly, and by 1852 it had become an incorporated village. In 1905, Eatontown became a city and has since grown to be one of the most populous cities in New Jersey.
