It was initially called the 3rd Regiment of Militia but it was changed to 1st Regiment on November 15, 1868. On July 1, 1898, the regiment became part of the Department of Defense and is now known as 9th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (9 IBCT).
Haddonfield is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 24,436 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1764 and incorporated as a borough on February 14, 1834. It became a city on May 15, 1934. Haddonfield is located east of Newark and south of Camden. The first Europeans to visit what is now Haddonfield were Dutch traders who came to the area in 1624/25 and 1629/30. They saw Native Americans living here but did not engage them because they were not thought to be cannibals. In 1764, two English soldiers named John Glover and James Irvine decided to found a settlement here after seeing an empty field where they could build their fortifications. They named the new community "Haddonfield" after Haverhill Township in England where they had been stationed during the American Revolutionary War (1775-83). In 1834, Borough President Arthur Phillips recommended that the Town Board reduce its population from 30 people to 20 so that it could annex smaller villages such as Bound Brook which had also declined in population since incorporation into the City of Newark. The recommendation was ratified by the Board and Haddonfield annexed Bound Brook on December 3, 1834. On February 14, 1835, Borough President Samuel French approved plans for an ordinance authorizing annexation of Bridgeport Township due to its decreasing population due to waves of immigrants coming overland through Turnpike Road from New York City following - or before - President Andrew Johnson's Emancipation Proclamation (January 1st 1865). On March 20th same year Bridgeport Township was annexed by Haddonfield making it one of three municipalities within Middlesex County that were annexed along with Rahway and Plainsboro without any vote by residents or local papers; this decision signaled an end to municipal autonomy within Middlesex County until larger towns such as Jersey City or Princeton replaced these municipalities with consolidated authorities under state auspices beginning in 1870s when Rutgers University acquired control over all corporate government within New Jersey via its acquisition of Our Lady's School at Hoboken (now part of Hoboken High School). In 1935-36 there was much public outcry against proposed plans for road construction across rural areas bordering Philadelphia that would impact small communities like Rahway and Plainsboro; this led to objections being voiced against consolidation by both Mayor Emanuel Murphy and then-Governor Albert Vanker who felt that those small towns should have been given warning about possible destruction that would result from expanding I-95 through their areas including loss of homes, businesses etc... After careful deliberation both mayorsial candidates voted against consolidating Rahway & Plainsboro into one municipality pending further study but no action took place until David Levy became mayoralty candidate in 2006 & soon after announced his support forissanctioning legislation creating Rahway Municipal Corporation which would take control over all services within Rahway Municipality while retaining rights to referendum on any future annexation decisions made by Corporation Committee... Although Levy later rescinded his support for formingRahwayMunicipalCorp he remainslsionable because he has done nothing substantive about enforcing regulations established by Legislative Amendment No 2 passed November 7th 2006 which requires Council approval for any major redevelopment project proposed inside or outsideRahwayMunicipality&overturns previous Executive Order establishing Procedures For Approval Of Major Development Projects By Municipal Corporation....

Haddonfield is a town in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 41,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Haddonfield were Dutch and French Huguenots who arrived in 1681 as refugees from persecution in France. They were followed by English colonists in 1718, who named the community after Haddon Hill, near London. The first school was built on Harney Street in 1738 and the first doctor was appointed in 1742. In 1814, Haddonfield became one of five towns within Camden County to be incorporated as a borough; it remained an unincorporated township until 1953 when it became a full-time municipality under the terms of the New Jersey Constitution. The history of Haddonfield begins with its location on land that had been surveyed by John Woolridge for his brother Isaac Woolridge and others in 1795-96 following their purchase of 3/4 mile (1 km) of upland along Patapsco Creek from Pierre Charles L’Enfant for $100 per acre (0.48 ha). The area around present-day Borough Hall and Northumberland Avenue had been part of Hunterdon County since 1683 when Thomas West bought 1/2 mile (800 m) east ofDebugge's Corner from Jameson Lord and other proprietors thereof for £50 per year or 10% thereof annual value; this tract having been patented to him by Sir Nicholas Carteret on July 25th, 1683 which grant appears to have been confirmed by King George II February 26th [1687] . By virtue of this patent: “the Township aforesaid being boundedclockwise about by said creek between six rods whereupon it flows into said creek thence up Easterly towards Southwark thence northerly along Broadwalkestone Road unto Ridley’s Neck yeomanry living thereon” – thus beginning development westward along Broadwalkestone Road especially around Ridley’s Neck but also including much of today’s Borough Hall Valley where water power originally powered mills dating back to at least 1540 continued operations until they were replaced with more modern technologies during the 19th century In 1814, Haddonfield became one of five towns within Camden County to be incorporated as a borough; it remained an unincorporated township until 1953 when it became a full-time municipality under the terms of the New Jersey Constitution. At its incorporation as a borough, Haddonfield voted unanimously to name itself after General Israel Putnam because he had always been very influential among its citizens despite living three miles (4 km) away in Princeton Township throughout his life. However, shortly thereafter Putnam died suddenly without leaving any children behind so his designation as "lord" came about through intestacy rather than inheritance which would have given rightsholder status to somebody other than his wife Abigail Putnam since she bore him no children Many residents continue to refer to themselves informally as "Putnams" even though they are not related directly thereto In fact many people forget that putnam actually lived anywhere near us before he died! Some may remember he resided just outside Princeton Junction NJ while others may know that he actually lived 3 miles north east side Of city limits
Haddonfield was founded in 1681 by Nicholas Haddon. The town was named after the hag or witch of the same name, who is said to have cursed the land. In 1797, Haddonfield became part of Princeton Township. On March 14, 1819, it became a separate borough and was renamed Woodbridge Borough. On June 12, 1875, it merged with Burlington Township to form Burlington County.
