The New Jersey Air National Guard's 1st Squadron, 103rd Wing is headquartered at the Fort Monmouth Airport in Jersey City. This unit was activated on July 15, 1947 and has been flying military aircraft since that time. The wing bases its operations at the airport, which is also home to the United States Military Academy, West Point. The wing is commanded by Maj. Gen. John Wojciechowski. Since its activation, NJAG's 1st Squadron has flown a variety of aircraft including F-15C/D Eagle fighters; E-4E 'Canuck' airborne early warning and control planes; A-10 Warthog attack planes; B-52H bombers; KC-135 Stratotankers; C-130J Hercules aerial refueling vehicles and AH-6 Little Bird drones for reconnaissance and disaster relief missions. In addition to its jet fighter squadron, NJAG also operates an Airbus A330M4 tanker squadron as well as an HH-60P Seahawk helicopter squadron which provides humanitarian assistance and disaster relief services in the Ninth Regional Command area of responsibility (AR) in New York City and New Jersey.

The New Jersey Air National Guard's 375th Fighter Wing was activated on July 1, 1947 at McGuire Air National Guard Base in Newark, New Jersey. The wing was redesignated the 375th Fighter Group on November 3, 1951 and activated at Stewart Air Force Base in Syracuse, New York. It was redesigned as the 375th Tactical Fighter Wing on May 15, 1957 and again activated at McGuire AFB on July 1, 1958. The wing became operational with Republic F-106 Delta Jets when it relocated to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio from McGuire AFB on October 16, 1960. It served as a Ground Forces fighter squadron until its deactivation effective September 30, 1966. On December 4, 1966 the 375th Tactical Fighter Wing moved to Seymour Johnson AFB (UNITA) in Charlottefield Township for operations during the Vietnam War. It operated MiG-21s of the 374th FS until January 9 of 1969 when they were replaced by North American F-16Cs of its 388th FS which had just arrived from Travis AFB (CA). Withdrawal of US forces ended combat operations February 24 of that year. On March 3rd Vance Aspinall accepted command of unit following his promotion to Colonel from Major General effective that date "375 TFW(I) transition back to an active duty unit: 14Mar69" It achieved Type "E" Squadron status Jul 69 when it assumed mission and equipment of 349 TFS/Fighter Squadron which had been disbanded Jun68 due to conversion loss suffered by 345 FTW(I). In Dec 76 355 FTW(I) lost engine while fighting NVA close air support mission near Tay Ninh AB and all aircraft returned safely home with no damage done!
Jersey City, New Jersey is a city in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is the 9th most populous city in New Jersey and the 5th most populous municipality in New Jersey with a population of over 7 million people as of 2019. The City of Newark, located adjacent to Jersey City proper on the Newark–Elizabeth Bridge, was once considered to be part of its namesake county; but it is now an independent municipality within Middlesex County. In 1847, the towns of Bergenfield and Passaic were consolidated into one town; but this merger did not take place until 1917 when Passaic became an independent borough within Bergen County. As a result, both cities are considered part of Hudson County as well as being part of the larger metropolitan area which includes all 10 counties in New Jersey. The history and culture of Jersey City date back to 1608 when English settlers arrived on Long Island Sound and founded Westchester County, present-day New York State. That year, Sir George Carteret granted land from his estate on Staten Island to Lawrence de Vere for a church and school at what would become known as Battery Park (now One World Trade Center). The first post office opened in 1795; however, it was only open for about six months before closed due to lack of customers. The first store conductive wire services were established here by David Astor in 1876 using equipment from his own company - American Wire & Telegraph Company - later becoming North American Telephone & Telegraph Company (ANNTX). In 1881, Mayor John Atherton erected a building called "The Palace" on Broadway near Camden Yards which served as the municipal government's headquarters until 1898 when that structure was destroyed by fire. In 1901, Netherlandsman Cornelius Vanderbilt offered 750 acres (30 ha) northwest of downtownjerseycity for $1 million dollars (equivalent to $38 million at present value), which was accepted and transformed into Vanderbilt Airport today. At that time – prior to any public transportation being available or even being conceived – residents walked or bikeed their way around the airport! Today’s airport also includes twoadjacent commercial districts: Terminal 1 housed general aviation operations while Terminal 2 hosts air cargo handling functions including FedEx Ground and UPS/DHL Luzon Express flights operated by SkyBridge Aviation Partners LP JFK Freight Terminal Authority NJ LLC has been redeveloping this property since 2015 leading up to its final completion in 2020 consistingof three terminals with loading docks directly onto gargantuan bridges spanning Hackensack River

Jersey City, New Jersey is a city in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The population was 89,711 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-most populous city in New Jersey and one of its five metropolitan areas. It is adjacent to Newark and Paterson. The name "Jersey City" comes from English settlers who arrived during the mid-1600s, specifically from what is now Essex County in eastern England. The earliest known reference to Jersey City occurs in 1664 when John Hackensack submitted an application for a patent for what would eventually become Jersey City on Long Island Sound. The site chosen for the town was located on both sides of the Hackensack River which would make it accessible by water and also provide natural resources such as lumber and coal that could be used to support a small town. In 1814, Peter Stuyvesant acquired 1/3 of present-day Newark through purchase from Dutch interests in return for land on Monmouth River east of Newark that he had purchased from Indian traders two years earlier. As part of his agreement with Native Americans, Stuyvesant agreed not to build any European settlements within 10 miles (16 km) of their villages or plants without their consent – something he repeated until 1794 when he granted similar permissions to western developers including Robert Morris and Jameson Livingston; this policy helped create an ecosystem where Native American leaders were able to continue interacting peacefully with Europeans while preventing them from dominating their territory completely. In 1871, Atlantic Insurance Company became the first company outside North America to complete a transatlantic line trip when its ship "Atlantic" crossed under Hudson Bay into Lake Ontario en route from Liverpool, England to Buffalo, New York via Toronto and Niagara Falls. This event led directly to William McKinley's victory over Andrew Johnson in November 1872 during the United States presidential election campaign – an event which helped spark rapid industrialization across much of Canada following Britain's departure from the European Union that year
The first Europeans to visit the area were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his party in 1524. The Dutch colony of New Netherland was established by settlers from Holland in 1614, and a smallpox pandemic caused large numbers of deaths in the area in 1627. In 1764, George Washington's army invaded New York during the American Revolution, and General James K. Polk's forces crossed the river at Trenton after crossing the Delaware River. The United States acquired Jersey City from Great Britain in 1807, and it became an important commercial center during the 19th century. In 1916, 20% of all phone traffic in America was conducted through Jersey City; as of 2019, that figure has decreased to 10%.
