In 1701, John Woolridge and his family founded a mill on the Monmouth River which became known as Woolridge's Mill. In 1800, Nicholas Roe settled in the town and operated a tannery. He also surveyed and built a road from Morristown to Manville which became known as Roe Road. In 1814, Peter Sellers erected a gristmill on the Upper Monmouth River which became known as Sellers' Mill; it continued to be run by him until 1839 when it was acquired by Anthony Biddle. In 1842, John Higginson purchased land adjacent to Sellers' Mill from Anthony Biddle; he renamed it Higginson's Mills after himself and began growing corn and wheat there. By 1847, he had built two stores and three churches in Manville—the first being Christ Church Parish Hall (now called First Baptist Church). In 1865-1866, he donated land to form what is now Rowan University; this school remains one of Manville's most important employers today. In 1905-1906, Manville residents constructed an irrigation system for their farmlands that still functions today; this system allowed them to produce large quantities of vegetables without having to transport them far away or use large trucks or carts to carry them home! As industry grew more complex during World War II – with production expanding into manufacturing plants such as those at Ford Motor Company – Manville experienced rapid growth! In 1865–67, he set up a second mill at Mocambo near Recife (now Recife), becoming one of the world's first commercial producers of whole bean coffees using a central processing plant on an industrial scale; thereafter all new major mills were built within five years or so (Petrini soon became world leader). Between 1895-1902 he developed what is now considered standard equipment for modern espresso machines: two French press pots (or molds), preheated water bath at 400 degrees Fahrenheit/200 degrees Celsius, ground burr filter baskets (7mm coarse mesh size), Italian Trenta filter paper (manufactured by Petrini himself), housekeeping functions including timer setting for grind times necessary for perfect pourshots onto cups—allowing about 8 minutes elapse between each cycle! Thereafter café automation gradually replaced manual brewing over time.) In 1914 Koffeehaus GmbH opened its doors on Unter den Linden tube station after being founded by Ernst Ludwig Kirchhoff Sr., who ran his own grocery store next door where he sold kahlua - German roasted malted milk - under licence from Nestle AG .
