The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Oakland, New Jersey has been providing support for the local community since 1920. The Coast Guard Auxiliary of Oakland, New Jersey was founded in 1922. In 1953, the Auxiliary purchased a warehouse on Market Street in Newark. The first store opened in 1954 and the Auxiliary continued to operate out of this facility until it closed in 1976. In 1979, the Auxiliary moved into their current location at 1400 Park Avenue in Oakland. They continue to operate out of this building until 1993 when they relocated to their present location at 1280 Richards Boulevard.
Oakland, New Jersey is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,788 at the 2010 census. The downtown area is home to the Oakland City Hall and the Oakland University School of Law. In addition to its central business district, which includes most of the town's commercial corridor and several blocks of Midtown Avenue, other districts include Cedar-Sawyer and Holmeswood. The first settlement in present-day Oakland dates back to 1795 when John Mason erected a small cabin on what is now Main Street. The first post office was established in 1814 with Wm. Purdy as clerk and Samuel Jarvis as agent. In 1827, John Fenton purchased land from Aaron Burr for $2/acre (0.94 ha). He built an early mill on the confluence of Hackensack Creek with West Branch Hackensack River. In 1830, Anthony Wayne opened a store in what is now Fruitvale Mall; it became the first "green" grocery store in America. During World War II some local manufacturers made components for warplanes; products such as turbines and bearings are still found today at Cherry Hill Air National Guard Station adjacent to town limits. A large housing project called Oaklands Village was started near MacArthur Boulevard and Lawrence Avenue in 1965 but failed due to low sales levels; this area now houses several businesses including Wegmans Food Markets along with other smaller complexes dating from that time period collectively known as "the demographic wasteland". A new shopping center called Park Plaza was developed east of Interstate 95 by developer Bruce Ratner within city limits after about forty years of planning by local officials associated with what had been then termed "the blighted heart of town". The current downtown core began being developed in earnest around 1990 when entrepreneur Don Wolf bought ninety acres adjacent to Main Street from Irving Salem for $5 million (). Wolf designed it primarily as an arts and entertainment district complete with high-end restaurants, theaters, hotels/motels and retail stores while continuing plans for further development along Service Road (now Bayard Rustin Boulevard) away from Interstate 95 into what would become known as North Oakland or East Oakland which eventually constituted much more than just a residential neighborhood: schools (Oakland Community College District), Kaiser Permanente Hospital property valued at over $100 million (), Ford Motor Company facilities (shown on maps since at least 1915) including two assembly plants production lines producing Lincoln Town Car sedans – one closed down during the 1980s but still producing vehicles until recently – light trucks also took note including developing plans for numerous mixed use buildings garage spaces etc., leading ultimately to a park/residential complex completed around 2005 comprising two soccer fields/parking lot available for use immediately upon completion surrounded by single family homes finished between 2006–2009 despite objections from REALTORS! It should be noted that there have never been any areas within city limits designated exclusively for non-residential purposes – although much has changed since these days noticeably moving closer towards Newark Liberty International Airport! This notwithstanding various efforts currently underway by Mayor Ras Baraka who leads one chamber government caucus chaired by Councilman Dave Ritchie funded largely through private donations via his opponent’s husband Lou Diamondello – led effort entitled " Urban RenewalDistrict ", consisting essentially of zoning changes surrounding airport landforms which could result in significant tax breaks if successful
The Coast Guard has been providing a service to the public since 1887. The Coast Guard was founded as an organization to help protect the maritime industry and ensure that seamen were safe from piracy. In 1916, the Coast Guard began providing law enforcement services on U.S. coasts. In 1981, the Coast Guard merged with other agencies to form the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The DHS created the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in 2002 which became responsible for policyrelated issues within DHS including homeland security, counterterrorism, drug control, and human trafficking. On October 15th, 2006, DHS announced that it would merge with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to create a single agency known as “The United States Customs and Border Protection” or USCBP. This merger is expected to result in job losses for some 1,800 employees at CBP while creating new opportunities for career growth at USCBP.

Oakland was a small town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States from the late 19th century until the early 21st century. The population was 2,898 at the 2000 census. The name "Oakland" originated from a grant of land to John Richardson in 1792. The first post office in Oakland opened in 1814. It continued to serve as a community post office until 1902. At that time, it became a borough and then incorporated as a city in 1912. In 1971, it merged with nearby Paterson to form the current City of Oakland. The oldest structure still standing in Oakland is an old wooden frame house that dates back to 1838. It is now used as the Municipal Court Building and is one of only two remaining buildings from when the town was first established. In 1851, Oakland formed part of Rahway Township which also included Paterson and East Rutherford Boroughs formed around this time including Newark and Elizabethtown (later known as West Orange). In 1857, Rahway Township was divided into two portions – eastern Rahway Township became Essex County while western Rahway Township became Passaic County; this caused much devastation for both townships since they were effectively cut off from each other by new roads and boundaries created during the division. A school building located on Meetinghouse Road near present-day Woodbridge Avenue came about this time as well; however it burned down in 1905 after years of use without any incident happening until 1974 when another building replaced it due to concerns over vandalism happening at previous locations inside the old school site which had been subject to fire multiple times before. There have been many attempts made over the years by local officials - most notably Mayor Joseph Mesto Jr., Councilman Hoyt Miller and former Councilwoman Judy Clarke - alluding to plans for redevelopment or re-establishment of what would once be called "the township." All such proposals have come up short due either due to lack of support or simply because there are no plans currently underway anywhere within reach that would provide significant economic impact or assistance towards reviving/reopening what would once be called "the township." However given how large and populous Oakland has become since 2001 - with more than 2 million residents living within its borders - anything could potentially happen if enough people decide they want something done about their struggling town: whether that's money coming through foundations or some sort of official designation/recognition like being put on a map somewhere so everyone can see where their town stands
