The history of the Phillipsburg Army National Guard began in 1869 when a group of soldiers from New Jersey volunteered to fight in the Mexican-American War. The first unit was organized and named the 14th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. By 1893, the regiment had been redesignated as the 7th Regiment, NJ Volunteer Infantry and now has its present name of the Phillipsburg Army National Guard. In 1917, World War I arrived in America and within a few months, 1st Battalion, 12th Regiment (New York) was activated at Weehawken Arsenal by Major General James M. Lewis with orders to protect local businesses during the war. On July 15th, 1917 a detachment from 2nd Battalion (Norman), 12th Regiment (New York) left for France on transports sponsored by Mrs. J.P. Morgan and others residing near Newark Liberty International Airport located north of Philipsburg on Rte 202A which became known as “The Marcoses Highway” after Mrs. Morgan’s father who was also an investor in this airport project. After disembarking at Boulogne-sur-Mer they proceeded immediately to Tourcoing where they took up arms against Germany pursuant to Article 5 of The Hague Convention Relative To Wounded Officers And Soldiers Of Armed Forces Who Have Begun The French Revolution On or Before September 16th 1871). 2nd Battalion traveled through Belgium before arriving at Arras on October 3rd 1918; here they engaged in hand-to-hand combat with enemy troops until relieved by Allied forces less than two weeks later on October 9th 1918 after overwhelming German resistance along an approximately 30 mile stretch from Arras eastward through La Bassée until finally surrendering near Mons on November 11TH 1918 following days longand bloody battle which resulted inthe death of over 50% ofthe battalion’s enlisted men including Command Sergeant Major John Larkin( mortally wounded just prior to his company’s engagement with German forces). This event is generally considered one ofAmerica’s most significant military successes during World War I due to its magnitude both militarily and symbolically as it represented not only great victory for American forces but also demonstrated that American women could serve openly in uniform while still maintaining their traditional roles within society

The Phillipsburg Township Militia was the first organized militia in the township. The unit was formed on October 25, 1777 by order of General George Washington. It numbered about fifty men and served for three years.
Phillipsburg is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 34,739. The borough was formed on March 20, 1834, from part of West Deptford Township. Phillipsburg is located on the Delaware River at its confluence with the Raritan River. The first settler in Phillipsburg was Jonathan Edwards who arrived in 1788 and soon started trading with natives along the river. In 1806 John Smith purchased land adjacent to what is now Phillipsburg from Samuel Baker for $1,000. By 1800 Phillipsburgh had a population of about 100 people and by 1824 it had grown to 350 people. In 1830 Joshua Biddle bought 4 acres (2 hectares) north of where present-day Phillipsburg stands for $10 per acre and built a sturdy frame house which still stands today as nearby Philipsburgh Court House. On October 21, 1834, when Monmouth County was created from parts of Middlesex County and Sussex County, Phillipsburg became one of its five townships; it was named for Brigadier General James Troup (1749-1827), an early settler in Monmouth County who served as colonel in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and also served as justice of peace in Monmouth County for several years after that conflict ended. The first meeting of the Borough Council took place on November 11th; pursuant to this enactment all town meetings were held at home until moved to JA Richards' Tavern until such time as a new building could be erected not less than two miles eastward along Route 22 between Old Bridgeport Road and Mount Holly Avenue which would serve as our current Borough Hall facility since 1938! In 1847 Phillip Simons donated land comprising most of what now forms UpperPhillipsboro Township including present day Philipsburg corner lot 6 which he had acquired from Nicholas French some years prior while residing there with his family during King George's War days when France successfully defended American forces against Spanish forces under then Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Lopez de la Torre y Espinosa near Middletown Junction NJ while British troops were raiding American farms looking for supplies necessary for their war effort

Phillipsburg was a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,815 at the 2000 census. It is located on the border of Mercer and Sussex Counties. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Phillipsburg were Dutch settlers who founded a trading post there in 1674. The area became part of New Jersey when it was admitted as a state in 1777. In 1834, Philipsburg's incorporation as an incorporated town occurred after the merger of several smaller settlements in Mercer County. Philipsburg grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its location on the Susquehanna River and its access to railroads which made it an important commercial center for the region. This growth led to problems with pollution and noise pollution from factories and industries that had been located adjacent to Philipsburg since the early 1800s. In 1907, Philipsburg erected a large schoolhouse which still stands today as one of its most notable landmarks. However, by 1914 Phillipsburgh's economy had begun to decline due largely to technological advances that made manufacturing more efficient than ever before; however, some residents still cling to their traditions such as agriculture or fishing (the latter of which still plays an important role in local life). By 1960, only 4% of the village's population continued living within its original boundaries; however, many of those residents have since moved away or died without leaving much behind aside from their memories and culture.
