Princeton, New Jersey is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,898 at the 2010 census. Princeton was founded by Princetonians in 1764 as a gristmill and sawmill on the west side of Trenton River. The town grew quickly due to its location along the river and its accessibility to transportation: it was only 16 miles from Trenton and 10 miles from Newark. In 1824, Princeton became an incorporated village. In 1881, it merged with nearby Rahway to form what is now called Rahway Township. The history of Princeton begins with the founding of the gristmill on the west side of Trenton River by men who migrated from England in 1764. The mill provided flour for local residents and allowed for rapid growth because it was located close to transportation arteries such as the Trenton-Newark Railroad and Ferry Road. By 1800, when George Washington was inaugurated as President of America, Princeton had become one of America's wealthiest towns thanks to its position along Route 1 (now I-95). The mill continued production until 1924 when it closed due to technological advances; however, some remnants remain today including a historic windmill that can be visited during summertime tours! In 1824, a group of merchants petitioned for incorporation into what is now known as Rahway Township because they felt that their town would benefit from joining forces with other towns in Mercer County. On November 5th of that year, representatives from twelve towns met at Rahway Meeting House and voted unanimously to incorporate into Mercer County under the name "Princeton." Originally situated near present day State College Boulevard and Vernon Avenue within what is now part of Sayreville Borough (in northwestern Monmouth County), wethever rural land lay between White Sands Lake on our north border - which stretched all the way downriver - forming our borders with Middlesex County on our south border while boundaries were also drawn around present day communities like West Orange and Bricktown (both east shore settlements). Today's municipalities include parts or all of both Middlesex County jurisdictions: East Brunswick/Old Bridge Township on our north side bordering Old Bridge Municipality on our south side; Asbury Park/Hightstown on NJ's east shore bordering Monmouthshire Borough northwest thereof; Boonton/Middletown eastshore settlement adjacent thereto including much disputed land situated between those two municipalities plus portions or all of Mylesboro Borough lying within Greater Toms River Township adjoining Morrisania Borough What began as just four farmers' homes quickly mushroomed into one of America’s most important cities – home not just to Tory politicians but alsoto business leaders such as Isaac Brockman founder & CEO Of Brockman Paper Mills With over 23K residents living in downtown Princeton by 2000 (& counting!), there has never been so much public space sharing common infrastructure investments undertaken by so many people throughout this community’s more than 350 years existence! Today’s businesses continue this tradition through their own private partnerships which have resulted in creation or supported more than 100 specialty businesses across eight industries including healthcare care technology (+10%); information technology (+6%); bioscience research (+9%); engineering (−1%); retail therapy services (−3%) & higher education (+11%). This mix allows us7″ tall women walking down Main Street USA TODAY morning (@ 6:00am) without feeling selfconscious about looking up at highrises towering above us while crossing streets below without worrying about hitting them stride! We are also blessed with world class institutions like University Press @ 7th St NW & Brandeis Univ @ Wyncot Ave NW which offer worldclass research programs suitable for any level student – whether studying law or social work etc Although Rutgers University–Camden Campus lies less than an hour away via Interstate 95 Sunrise Highway corridor we find ourselves increasingly limited politically speaking opportunities – unfortunately mirroring nationwide trends!! Despite this 2 min distance there are very few things accomplished together greater than thru Connecting Cities events organized by various civic groups such as Thames Valley Heritage Group whose aim isto bring low income families together for food tastings lunches outings movies etc misc…. This lackadaisical attitude towards political engagement& opportunity cost leads me believe that if we want real progress then maybe “we need PRESIDENT CANDIDATES WHO WILL RESPECT THE MIDDLE CLASS FAMILYâ€â€¦.. Princeton, New Jersey is a small borough located in Mercer County, New Jersey. The current population was 21,898 at the 2000 census. Princeton is known for its Ivy League schools- Princeton University and Rutgers University-Newark. The town of Princeton was first settled in 1765 by Presbyterian missionaries as part of the Transylvania settlement. The community name derived from "Petersham", which means "place of peace." The first school in what is now Princeton was built on May 16, 1765 by Scottish missionaries under the direction of Dr John Woolridge. It became operational that fall and served grades Pre-K through eighth grade. In 1814, when Morristown Township was established, it annexed part of Princeton Borough including what are now the eastern blocks of School Street and Park Avenue. One year later, on November 2oth, 1815, Morris township added Addison Square to its boundaries making it an official municipality with a population of about 50 residents. On March 3rd 1829 Township officials convened an election to select a new town meeting house which they did at the home of Reverend John Nicholson (the father-in-law of George Washington). After much discussion–including voting by hand due to lack of paper ballots- trustees selected James Witherspoon as the new Town Meeting House's builder and contractor for $1 per day labor starting on April 1st 1830 In 1835 Witherspoon replaced one settee in front of his home with two Adirondack chairs instead so that he could seat more people at once when meetings were held in open fields behind his house; this event helped begin what would become known as "Town Hall Square". Eventually four other buildings were added: a jail (1841), courthouse (1843), schoolhouse (1851) and Masonic Lodge (1857). Finally in 1893 – after decades spent being used alternately as churches or office buildings – the town voted to replace all six structures with one large building designed by architect Samuel Prentice Chasey called "The Dome" which still stands today Princeton had no incorporated government until 1840 when it formed a boardwalk commission under ordinance No. 8of40 requiring inhabitants to produce evidence that they desired incorporation into any township or village within 20 miles limits without payment thereof While not exclusively associated with either education or industry during its early years––itself unusual at this time—-population growth led to increased needs for services such as fire protection and police protection thus leading to incorporation into both Mercer CountyNJ & Middlesex County NJ on February 15th 1850 . Princeton reached its peak population size around 1900 with over 60% white European Americans while African American populations totaled just 2%. However Northeast Newark gradually surpassed Princeton along WITH racial diversity throughout most sections OF Mercer County nearly doubling their total numbers between 1901 & 1910 while African American residential areas only grew marginallyTO remain clustered primarily around South Plainfield/East Orange/West Orange up until 1970s…..African American businesses slowly started moving out towards Elizabethtown until very recently but overall White European American dominance has continued unabated
