The USS Ramsey (ID-7) was a United States Navy announced in 1945 as one of the earlier ships to be named after New Jersey's Ramsey County. The ship served as a training vessel and amphibious assault ship during World War II, before being decommissioned in 1946 and sold for scrap. The USS Ramsey was reactivated on 2 May 1984 by Naval Station Kings Bay, Georgia, as part of the Fleet Marine Force Command's "Century Ship" program. She served as an amphibious assault ship until she was struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 1 October 1992. She was then placed into storage at Kings Bay until she was ransacked and looted on 15 August 1994. Her remains were scavenged again in 1995 and her hull scrapped that year.

The population density was 2,611.[4] There were 871 housing units at an average density of 1,282/sq mi (500/km²). Ramsey was a small town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded in 1795 by Nicholas Ramsey as a result of the Treaty of Paris following the American Revolutionary War. The town's ZIP code is 07605. With an population of 3,471 at the 2010 census, Ramsey is one of the most populous towns in Bergen County. The land that would become Ramsey was first acquired by Nicholas Ramsey from Native Americans in 1795. He named it after his father-in-law, David Ramsey. In 1814, Colonel John Sutherlin bought 2/3 of the township from NicholasRamsey for $2 per acre. In 1824, Captain John Fenton bought 1/4 of the township for $2 per acre from Colonel John Sutherlin and donated it to the people of Ramsey Township on condition that they erect a Methodist Episcopal Church thereon within five years. The Reverend Elijah Halsey officiated at this first service on October 5th, 1824. Reverend Halsey served as pastor until 1830 when he became pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Paramus which remained in operation until 1881 when it merged into First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood which then merged into Second Presbyterian Church which still remains operational today and serves as the present day episcopal church for Ramseys residents. In 1835, Captain John Fenton sold 1/4 of the township to Isaac Richardson for $8 per acre which made it available for purchase by those living within its borders or who had purchased adjacent land during earlier auctions held between December 12th and January 6th that year with proceeds going towards building a road from Newark to Perth Amboy via Clinton Park and Westfield (now called South Orange Boulevard). On March 16th 1840 Isaac Richardson sold 3/4Development area including all Bought lands plus fringe & apportioned income if any to George Biddle who also resided therein and conveyed said interest thereto to Abraham Darcy Esquire & wife Jno Wife soon after same day upon payment by said George Biddle to Abraham Darcy Esquire whereupon said Abraham DarcyEsquire erected thereon house No 10 consisting thereof 4 stories high containing 30 rooms & 2 storeys deep situate on lot 100 feet wide X 60 feet long thence extending unto River Raritan about 20 rods width being divided into two parts lots side by side each measuring 40 feet long & 20 feet wide having therein six drive ways leading out both sides thereof without gate or fence proper excepting one part wherefrom road leads unto School House on lot 800 feet wide X 150 feet long thence running along line now known as Northumberland Avenue eastwardly (now called Route 9 southwardly) towards Middlesex County line . Lloyd's Weekly Register dated November 15th 1850 contains these particulars concerning Abram DarcyEsquire & Wife: "On Saturday last we removed our family quarters from near Bridgeville where we had been since February 25th last; we arrived here yesterday evening." They continued residing here until late September 1850 when they moved back across river to Northumberland Avenue. Thereafter they resided at their old home until July 1861 when they moved again across river to take up residence at Netherland Avenue where they remain today
