The Marine Corps has been deploying Marines to the United States since World War II. The first deployment of Marines occurred in 1947 when a detachment was sent to help with the Korean War. The Marines have deployed in many different conflicts and locations, including the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, and Operation Enduring Freedom. There are many different types of Marines that serve in the Marine Corps. They can be found playing softball or volleyball onbase at Camp Pendleton, as well as being trained for various tasks such as combat infantry and special forces operations. There is no one type of Marine that cannot deploy and contribute to any military conflict. Each Marine has their own unique story that makes them stand out from other Marines. In Wanaque, New Jersey, there have been numerous deployments of Marines over the years. In 2002, a detachment was deployed to help with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. In 2006, a detachment was sent to help with Operation Neptune’s Spear during Afghanistan’s war against insurgents known as Al-Qaeda in East Pakistan (AQAP). In 2009-2010, a detachment was sent to assist with hurricane Sandy recovery efforts in New York City. In 2013-2014 a detachment was sent back into Afghanistan after signing an agreement with Afghan President Hamid Karzai for assistance in fighting Taliban insurgents. The last deployment of marines took place on October 12th of this year in Wanaque when 3 detachments were Deployed under Commander Jonathan Littlejohn from 1st Battalion 5th Regiment Combat Team 8th Marine Regiment (1/8) based out of Fort Lewis Island Hawaii along side 2nd Battalion 6th Infantry Regiment (2/6) from Ft Dix NJ under Commander Russel Knoppers Jr both detached for two weekslong tours providing support services within 100 miles radius of each other while also conducting training exercises between battalions which provides cohesion within unit making it difficult for enemy combatants or infiltrators access our midst undetected

Wanaque is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the borough had a population of 11,569. The name Wanaque was given to it by Dutch settlers in 1678 as part of their land grants to English farmers. In 1784, Wanaque formed part of Bergen Township and was incorporated as a separate municipality in 1838. Wanaque is located in the eastern tip of Middlesex County at (39.833337," -74.526889"); its total area is . It borders Hackensack to the northwest and Union City to the east and south; North Brunswick to the southeast; and Englewood Cliffs to the southwest. According to the United States Census Bureau, Wanaque has a total area of , all of it land. The borough is bordered on two sides by North Brunswick Township (to the northeast), while its border with Englewood Cliffs township forms an angle that reaches nearly straight across town center from one side to another – making for some odd looking streets names such as "Township Line Road" and "Center Street." The borough's only street boundary actually runs along Lake Street/Route 9 rather than perpendicular through town center like so many other municipalities in New Jersey – making getting around more difficult if you're trying notepad-drawn routes like I do when planning my daily routine! According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Wanaque had 11,569 residents; 5% more than 2009 but 1% less than 2008 according to Borough officials’ estimate provided hereunder: “Based on preliminary results from our census count taken Friday morning (April 15th) following official opening ceremonies for municipal government services), we have about 10K people living within our boundaries which would make us about 14%. However based on discussions and deliberations during recent council meetings we have decided that an increase (+1%) may be necessary due primarily[to] growth within neighboring townships including Hackensack (+10%), Union City (+15%), North Brunswick (+20%),NJ Turnpike (+25%) & Englewood Cliffs (+30%). We will continue working with our Planning Department throughout this process with input from residents themselves so that we can submit final plans early next year once all data has been compiled” As mentioned before, Wanaquee’s original name was Dutch for “place where white men set up their homes etc., because they found what they were looking for hereabouts” according ot one long whispered story passed down thru generations among locals who enjoyed telling each other jokes about Swedes moving into what used once been farmland now home to mostly black Americans eager or afraid just want easier access onto their suburban areas: how could these Southerners trust any Europeans after what happened during World War II? Wanaque is a borough in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,938 at the 2010 census. Wanaque was formed on February 14, 1874 from parts of Rahway and West Caldwell townships. The first settler in what is now Wanaque was John Gales who arrived in 1795. He platted the town on land grants he had received from the Crown. In 1814, George Washington Williams bought land here for $1,000 and laid out a small town with homes for himself and his family. Land titles show that other early settlers included Ezra Stroud (1810), Elijah Bakewell (1815), Ebenezer Goodspeed (1820), Isaac Swayne (1824), Nicholas Canfield (1827), James Purdy ( 1830), Joshua Butterfield ( 1835) and Samuel Hildebrandt ( 1840). In 1874, Wanaque became part of Mercer County when it was created from portions of Rahway and West Caldwell townships. That year also saw the opening of the first store in what is now Wanaque - The Watchman's Store - which operated until 1924. In 1902-1903, two new high schools were built: District High School and Central High School - both located in what is now downtown Wanaque. As much as 20% of all production within Mercer County takes place within five miles of where you live – whether it’s agriculture or processing industries such as textiles or manufacturing – this has led to nicknames like “The Hub” for rural communities throughout New Jersey due to their proximity to major metropolitan areas; Newark being typically considered the “Downtown Zone” while Trentonoisians refer to Parsippany/Bedminster as “The Parkland Township” area surrounding North Brunswick forms the “ suburban belt” around Paramus Boroughserving as an agricultural belt east of Interstate 95 between Edison Plains Road and South Orange Avenue while Harrington Park extends into Bergen County
