In 1947, Harry Poulos passed away but his son-in-law, George D’Anna continued the family business until his death in 1998. In George D’Anna’s memory, Maga Coffee donated all proceeds from its sale at auction to support various charitable causes throughout New York City. The community was founded in 1786 by General James Clinton and his forces after they invaded and destroyed the town of Hamilton in upstate New York. Kingston, New York is a town in Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica-Rome, NY-NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kingston's first settler was Nicholas Krieger in 1814. The town developed after the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 and its annexation by Rome in 1828. Kingston became an important manufacturing center for textiles and agricultural products during the 19th century. In the 20th century, Kingston experienced rapid growth as a result of its location on Canandaigua Lake and its access to Interstate 81 and other transportation routes. The town has been called "the most beautiful place on earth" by many people throughout its history. According to local legend, when General George Washington visited Yates County during his second term as President in 1797 he noticed that there were no stores or settlements within sight of Albany except for one small village known as "Kingsborough". Washington ordered Colonel Isaac Brockman to build a store in Kingsborough but this project never got off the ground because he lacked money necessary for such an endeavor In 1814 Nicholas Krieger founded what would become Kingston with his wife Catharine Krieger following their arrival from Germany via boatlift from Rotterdam on December 12th that year After some initial struggles with getting enough water rights from surrounding farmers they were able to establish themselves successfully as a farming community and began manufacturing items such as flourishes robes buttons jewellery etc., becoming very successful especially due to their close proximity to Canandaigua Lake . Starting around 1930s large numbers of Slovaks immigrated into Yates County primarily settling near Utica making it difficult for locals who remain overwhelmingly Irish Catholic while newcomers constituted majority Protestant culture .
