In 1925, Sleepy Hollow Coffee Company merged with another company called National coffee Company (later renamed Peet’s Coffee). This merger allowed for more variety within the company’s cupboard and helped them become one of America’s leading coffee companies. During World War II, many of National coffee Company’s brands were used by the American army due to its strategic importance during that time period. As a result of all this success, Sleeping Hollow Coffee Co-op went bankrupt in 1959 but managed to reopen again under new management just four years later. Since its reopening there have been several changes within the company includingthe addition of an espresso bar in 1984 and an on-site bakery where people can purchase fresh baked goods such as pies or pastries direct from the bakery every day!
