Gourmet coffee has been around for centuries, and even before then, different regions of the world had their own unique flavors and techniques. In New York City, gourmet coffee began to be popularized in the early 1800s as a result of Dutch migrants who started bringing beans from Java to Manhattan. The first Starbucks opened in 1971 in Greenwich Village, and today there are more than 2,000 stores across the United States selling gourmet coffee. Because of its high-quality standards and unique flavor profiles, gourmet coffee is now an increasingly popular beverage choice among people of all ages and backgrounds. Today’s gourmet coffee enthusiasts can enjoy some of the most delicious cups of java around by visiting independent cafes or ordering online through specialty retailers like Amazon.com or Starbucks. Whether you are looking for something special on your next breakfast sandwich or want to sample a new flavor altogether, gourmet coffee is sure to please!

Coffee has been around for centuries and there are many different types of coffee. Some people might remember the Ethiopian Coffee from back in the day. There are also some other types of coffee that you can find in New York City, such as Italian Roast or Brazilian Roast.
Suffern, New York is a town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 14,371 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Syracuse- Peru-New Rochelle, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The towns of Suffern and Southburgh are also in Ulster County. A post office called Suffern was established in 1824, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1914. The town name probably comes from the word "suffer" meaning to be subject or yield under pressure. The first settler in what is now Suffern was John Fitzpatrick who arrived there on July 12, 1792 with his family from Belfast, Ireland. Fitzpatrick had been captain of a British ship that departed for America on July 4th of that year with over 350 passengers and goods. Headed by Captain Fitzpatrick and his men into what is now Erie County (now Canandaigua County), they were met by Sheriff John Larkin who decided not to allow them entry into this new country because he did not understand English well enough to make an informed decision about their future. From this initial settlement through the years many more families have moved into Suffern including some who have great grandchildren still living there today! In 1881 when Suffern incorporated as a village it had only 7 residents! After experiencing rapid growth following incorporation the village started providing services such as housing and schools which continue to this day! One of the most exciting aspects of Village life has always been its annual festival which features local arts and crafts along with a variety of food trucks! In recent years however Village Hall has experienced some major renovation which has added yet another layer to its history!!
From the beginning, coffee has been a popular beverage. Coffee beans were roasted in Ethiopia and Africa long before Europeans discovered them. The first Europeans to taste coffee were Portuguese sailors in the 16th century, who introduced it to Europe. Coffee was also enjoyed by the Arabs and Japanese before they adopted it as their national drink. The Dutch traders brought coffee back to Holland in the 16th century, where it was used as a diplomatic agent and trade tool. The Dutch colony of New Netherland became known for its excellent quality coffee, which helped make it one of the most prosperous countries in Europe during this time period. In 1795, Nicholas-Jacques Conte founded La Caza de la Paz at San Lorenzo in Peru, which became world's first commercial plantation of coffee. In 1825, French explorer Alexis de Tocqueville visited Andes and saw firsthand how well espresso beans were grown thereabouts; he called this region "the land of café." He recommended that French colonists plant more espresso beans because they had such a high flavor profile that European markets would love. Thus began an era when coffee became one of the world's most popular beverages!

Suffern, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 9,049 at the 2010 census. The Town of Suffern was organized in 1824 and named for General James Sullivan. The first settler in what is now Suffern was Elijah Woodruff who arrived on July 5th, 1825. He built a log cabin on the east side of the Susquehanna River. In 1830, John Caird bought the land from Elijah Woodruff and commenced to build a frame courthouse and jail. First called "Sullivan's Court House," it became known as simply "Caird's Courthouse." In 1836, Samuel Morse visited Suffern and donated his land for a public square which would become central to the town. The first post office was established in 1827 at the corner of Main and Allen Streets. The Turnpike (now State Route 22) crossed throughsuffERN on October 7th, 1829; this event is commemorated by an old stone marker near that intersection today which reads "7 Oct'r 1830". On December 5th of that year mail began arriving regularly from Buffalo via this route! There were only 10 residents in suffERN when it became part of Erie County on January 1st 1792 – two days after Seneca Falls came into being! The small size of suffERN didn’t prevent it from becoming one of America’s leading agricultural communities during the 1800s thanks to its rich soil fertility; there were over 100 businesses operating here by 1800! On April 6th 1865 Union troops burned down all but three buildings within sight of downtown Suffern during their occupation; although damage done to some structures wasn’t extensive (eighth floor restaurant & wine cellar sustained severe fire damage), it did represent an unfortunate setback for this once thriving community! Today few remnants remain from this time period: evidence can be found scattered throughout ditches adjacent to several homes located just off SR 22 southbound exit ramp). On February 14th 1902 localist David Burt set out with a group including future Congressman Stewart Udall to purchase 3/8 mile² (or 1/2 acre²) northwest OF downtown suffern from Jno Aiken for $1 per acre - thus ending one hundred years of attempt by either party “to take away our town center!” Unfortunately due to heavy snowfall – typical during wintertime – construction couldn’t get underway until AFTERNOON ON THAT DAY!!! Consequently there remains today only ONE STREET NEAR DOWNTOWN SUSQUEHANNA RIVER where Burt parked his vehicle overnight prior to starting his venture!! One wonders how many other attempts like this were made over those fateful ninety-two years? Despite these setbacks however BUILDINGS DID APPEar SO HOURSLATER IN THE NEWS AS TO MAKE UP FOR IT!!!!!! Thank you David Burt (& everyone else involved!) For showing us what could have been had we just given up!)
