Burlington was founded on November 15, 1853 by men from nearby Pittsboro as a small station on the Charlotte and Manchester Railroad. In my opinion there are many things that have contributed greatly towards Burrton’s success story throughout its long history* [* I could go on...] However my favorite part about it would have to be definitely our economy which has always been very diversified** [* We do not rely simply upon agriculture anymore!]... *[ Note: Some contemporary sources dispute whether certain aspects mentioned above actually constituted true successes back then…] ** [*] One example can be seen with our current status where we generate nearly 60% + GDP both domestically & abroad*** [* Not bad considering we’re just 1/4th American!] *** [*] Another significant factor may relate directly back To Our People...Our Residents!: Our citizens are extremely entrepreneurial!!!
