The Goldsboro Air Force Base is home to the North Carolina Air National Guard's 4th Fighter Wing. The wing was activated on 1 October 1943 and flew aerial combat against Japan during World War II. The wing played an important role in the Korean War by providing air support for United Nations troops. In 1965, the wing moved to its current location at Goldsboro Airport. The 4th Fighter Wing became part of the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) after the war. The wing served as a rotational training unit with RAF squadrons until it was relocated to RAF Lakenheath, England in 1973. From 1974-1979, the wing served as a test and Doctrine Center ground unit before transitioning to jet fighters. In 1990, the aircraft squadron stationed at Goldsboro AFB became active again when it was reactivated as 3d Bombardment Squadron (3BS). The squadron has been headquartered here since 1993 when it replaced 1st Bombardment Squadron (1BS). In 2002, 3BS activation marked another milestone for Goldsboro AFB when it became first USAF Wright-Patterson AFB stop on tour of duty in East Asia with real live F-15 Eagle fighter planes from 26th FS/5th FG based out of Andersen AFB, Guam; fly sorties over Japan then Okinawa Prefecture; photo/tactical display mission over South Korea September 5-7 2002 On 15 Sep 2002 3 BS F-15E Striking Eagles took off from Andersen AFB Guam flying 9 operational hours enroute to Iwakuni JAPAN performing various photo reconnaissance missions supported by air refueling tanker provided by USS George Washington USS Enterprise NAS Yokosuka JPN

The Goldsboro Air Force Base gift history began in 1942 when the United StatesAAF opened up their new airfield here. The base was primarily used for training fighter pilots and it wasn't until 1945 that the USAF built a more permanent structure, the Goldsboro Army Air Field. This field would become home to many of America's most famous bomber pilots such as Colonel James A. McConnell, Jr., who flew strategic bombers during World War II and became one of the first American generals to fly in an airplane with human-powered flight characteristics. In 1948, Goldsboro AFB was renamed after General Curtis LeMay, who commanded American forces in Southwest Asia during the Korean War. General LeMay is also credited with developing America's first jet aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN-6). In 1956, Goldsboro AFB was again renamed after a general when it became home to Vance L. Dooley Air Force Base. Dooley AFB would be home to many notable commandos including Operation Neptune's Spear which led to North Korea becoming a nuclear power and finally leading to its downfall; Operation Desert Shield which resulted in Saddam Hussein coming into power in Iraq; and Operation Iraqi Freedom which led toOperation Enduring Freedom being born. Today, Vance LDooley AFB continues its role as an important military installation within the USAF and host units include: The 555th Airlift Squadron stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB; 4th Bombardment Wing located at Greenville AB; 505th Troop Carrier Squadron based at Seymour Johnson AFB; 511th Airlift Squadron headquartered at Pope County SC; 613th Tactical Airlift Wing located at Austin AB
Goldsboro is a city located in Rutherford County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 21,711 at the 2010 census. Goldsboro is the county seat of Rutherford County and is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem metropolitan area. It is home to two universities: Duke University and North Carolina State University. The city has been named one of America's "10 Best Places to live" by Forbes magazine twice and was included in Money Magazine's "30 Under 30" list for 2017. Goldsboro was founded by European Americans in 1849 as an agricultural town on the banks of the Yadkin River near what is now Hillsborough Avenue. By 1860, Goldsboro had become a manufacturing center with textile mills, cigar factories, and other businesses developing along Elm Street and around Triangle Park. In 1868 Goldsboro became known as the first town in North Carolina to win approval from Congress for electric lighting with alternating current (AC). In 1870, gold fields were discovered on nearby Roanoke Island; this led to increased mining activity in Goldsboro and other towns in southeastern North Carolina. In addition to its economic significance as a manufacturing center and transportation hub during the 19th century, Goldsboro also became known for its educational opportunities thanks to its location within easy reach of several colleges/universities including Duke University (then known as Wake Forest), NC State University (then called Raleigh), and Union College (now Southern Baptist Theological Seminary). During World War II many jobs were created directly or indirectly through munitions production such as printing presses used for war bonds and B-29 bombers required for strategic bombing raids against Japan; however, only 1% of total GDP came from munitions production in Durham alone during WWII! The early 20th century saw dramatic changes take place in Goldsboro with rapid growth spurred by new industry development such as bricklayer’s trade unions being established followed by machine shops producing everything from radios to automobiles that quickly replaced hand-made products throughout much of East Tennessee beginning around 1920 especially following prohibition efforts nationally starting around1920 which caused organized crime control over eastern Tennessee economy eventually leading towards prohibition full throttle throughout most portionsof U.S startingaround 1930 until finally state constitutional amendment abolishing Prohibition winning majority statewide referendum November 3 1920 finally ended nationwide prohibition movement effective December 15 1933 when New York state joined states allowing liquor sales without government license under state Constitution

The USAF provides air power for operations in every corner of the world, from the battlefield to support roles in global peacekeeping. In Fiscal Year 2019, the USAF spent $123 billion on defense activities, making it one of the most spending agencies in America. The USAF is also a major provider of intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities to our allies and partners around the world. Air force gift history can be traced back to World War I when American aviators contributed significant firepower to Allied forces. After World War II, USAAF pilots became an integral part of US strategy as they helped guide US bombers into battle against Nazi Germany and Japan. From 1949 through 2013, RAF personnel played an important role in supporting Operation Desert Storm – arguably one of America’s most controversial wars – during which more than 1 million RAF personnel served within Europe and support zones including Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 9/11/2001, however, USAF aviation has been under increased scrutiny following terrorist threats against both domestic passenger jets (e.g., Flight 93) as well as critical infrastructure targets such as UAV facilities at Fort Meade Air Force Base Maryland (FAB). As a result of this heightened security environment, donations from individuals or foundations wishing to make a difference have become increasingly popular within the military community since then. This paper will explore how airforce gift history has evolved over time as well as some examples of recent gifts that have had enduring impacts on American society.

Goldsboro is a town located in Orange County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 8,032 at the 2010 census. Goldsboro is the county seat of Orange County and home to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. It was founded in 1837 by Scots-Irish immigrants from Ulster as a stop on their way to Charlotte. Goldsboro's history can be traced back to 1837 when Scots-Irish immigrants from Ulster settled in what is now Orange County. At first, they built log cabins thatched with palm leaves and straw bales for themselves and their families. From these beginnings, Goldsboro quickly became known as a commercial center for the area and it continued to grow throughout the 19th century. In 1868, gold was discovered near present-day Goldsboro and soon afterward numerous businesses opened up around this new discovery including lumberyards, mines, railroads, banks and other businesses. This growth led to Goldsboro becoming one of the most important towns in eastern North Carolina during the 19th century. In 1898, due to its importance as an economic center within eastern North Carolina and its proximity to Raleigh (the state capital), Goldsborne incorporated as a city under the name of Raleigh on December 10, 1898. Over time however, Raleigh's status within society slowly eroded while Goldsborne maintained its position as an important community within eastern North Carolina until 1967 when it became part of Orange County

It is the second-largest city in Wake County after Raleigh and the largest in the Pender County metropolitan area. Goldsboro was founded by British colonists in 1784 as New Granada on the Yadkin River. The town changed its name to Goldsboro in 1861 when it became part of NCÂ 10 and then to Wake County in 1868.
