The 3rd Battalion, North Carolina Regiment of Infantry was organized in 1802 and then the 4th Battalion, North Carolina Regiment of Infantry in 1803. The 5th Battalion, North Carolina Regiment of Infantry was organized in 1804 and then the 6th Battalion,North Carolina Regiment of Infantry in 1805. In 1861, Confederate forces attacked Union forces stationed at Goldsboro and this resulted in the regiment being disbanded on September 8th 1861.
Goldsboro is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,697 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Alamance County. Goldsboro was founded on November 3, 1810 by Captain John Brown and his men as a stop on their journey to trade with the Cherokee Indians. The first brick building in Goldsboro was built by Captains John Fayette and James Broughton in 1825. Goldsboro became a city on February 12, 1907. The gold mine located near present-day Goldsboro began production in 1886 and yielded over $1 million dollars worth of gold between 1886 and 1904. After World War I, production ceased due to low prices for gold; however, new mines were developed nearby that continue to produce gold until today. One such mine is called the Piedmont Mine which continues to produce gold today after having been open since 1902. Goldsboro has had several industries active in it during its history including: Textile Manufacturing (19th century), Rubber Manufacturing (20th century), Papermaking (19th century), Coalmining (1920s-1950s), Trucking Service (1940-1970) and Metal Fabricating from 1929 until its closure in 1970 due to wartime restrictions on metal output from America's allies during World War II

Goldsboro was founded in 1776 by the Catawba tribe of Native Americans. The town is named after George Washington, who was born in nearby Georgetown, Virginia. Afterward, however, crime rates began to increase again throughout much of central North Carolina – which caused many longtime residents to move out of Goldsboro over worries about crime being unable to control within its borders. Today, little remains of old goldsborne identity other than some examples from local history books or artifacts that can be found around town
