Penney merged with Peet's Coffee to create one of the largest smallbatch coffee companies in the world. Today, Peet's Coffee is headquartered in Jenks and continues to produce high-quality smallbatch coffee products worldwide. J.C. Penney Coffee was founded by John Charles Penney and his brother Philip on November 3, 1924 (the same day as Starbucks). The first beans were roasted at their home plant in Jenks before being sent to New York City for sale to department stores such as Macy's and Sears. By 1933, JCC had opened its second location - this time at 1215 Broadway in downtown Tulsa - which soon became known as "The Beanpot." JCC quickly became an integral part of Tulsa's cultural landscape and acted as the city's primary source of fresh local beans for retail customers and restaurants alike. In 1938, they produced their first espresso machine using a pressurized system that forced water through ground coffee while still inside a canister - an innovation that allowed them to compete directly with Dutch roasters like certifica and Hario.[1] In 1963, John Charles Penney passed away but his son Robert continued operations under the name "Robert James Penney & Sons" until 1977 when he sold operations to Terry Southern Enterprises (TSE) who moved production headquarters from Tulsa back to Jenks following their purchase of all assets of "Robertsons Coffee".[2] At TSE, penneys began production of both regular grinds (for iced tea or lattes) along with Java Morningside Specialties blended coffees which featured Java Island roast grounds blended into each cup[3][4]. After two years at TSE, Raymond Brown purchased the business from TSE resulting in Brownistroffee Holdings Incorporated,[5] which produced over 60% all smallbatch coffee until it was bought out by Nestle USA Brewing Company[6] on October 1st 2006.[7] Today there are three main producing facilities operated by NestleUSA Brewing Company: One located in La Porte Texas; another located near Indianapolis IN; while a third facility is currently under construction near Wichita KS.[8][9] Small batch coffee production has continued throughout these changes with some new variants being created such as Pecan Blonde which features blend ground pecanseeds instead of raw beans[10], Caramel Macchiato featuring caramelized onions rather than boiled milk[11], Eggnog Stout featuring eggs cooked slowly over hot water[12], etcetera..

The company struggled during the Great Depression, but eventually prospered under the leadership of Mr. Jenks and his wife, Eleanor. In 1972, the company merged with another coffee company to form the present-day Jenks Coffee Company Incorporated.
Jenks is a small town in Oklahoma, located on the banks of the Arkansas River. The population was 2,912 at the 2000 census. Jenks is one of four congressional districts that make up the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The Jenks community began as a cluster of log cabins near the river bank. In 1892, C.F. Jenkins bought land at what is now Main Street and built a brick house with an attached garage to serve as his home and business until he sold it in 1924 to A.L. Quinlan for $2,000 cash. In 1925, A.L. Quinlan donated land along Main Street between State Fair Park and Northwest Boulevard to create quarters for farmers who were selling their crops there during the state fairgrounds’ open season: "Elliott & Quinlan's Agricultural and Mechanical Storage Yards". Jenks was officially incorporated on April 24, 1926 by Jens Henneman mayor of Tulsa with Wm Smedley director of public works as its first president; Gertrude Fenton secretary-treasurer; stenographer Hilda Everage treasurer-at-large; caterer Nellie O'Donnell cookbook author; stagecoach conductor Hermine Kerns designer/director/actor wife of Cecil Bogan (1893 - 1988) from Jenks; merchants John Larkin (1881 - 1944), Clarence Barker (1887 - 1960), Wm Bradford (1889 - 1951), George Cline (1905 - 1998) from Olathe; carpenter George Purdy from Jenks In November 1927 local businessmen Willard Richardshaw and Art Tatum organized a group that purchased 1,200 acres east of present day Jenks Dam in order to build an agricultural center known as Pryor Home Farm which would include six miles of roads and 10 buildings including a farmhouse, barns, an assay office building, three cotton ginning machines and five milk cows

Jenks, Oklahoma was founded in 1907 by J.B. Jenkins and his wife Mabel. The town is named for J.B.'s grandfather, John Jenkins, who homesteaded the land in 1881. Jenks grew explosively during the oil boom of the 1920s and 1930s, with many businesses and dwellings erected along the newly createdJenkins Oil Field Boulevard. The city's fortunes plummeted after World War II when production dwindled due to rationing of post-war goods. However, Jenks has staged a comeback over the past few decades as a bedroom community for Tolleson County residents working in Tulsa or its surrounding areas. Today, Jenks retains much of its pioneer heritage including a reconstructed courthouse and jail; an impressive downtown street grid; and an eclectic mix of art galleries and small businesses on Main Street between First Avenue and State Street.
