Commander First Brigade Headquarters moved from McClellan AFB onto Saginaw Boulevard East just south of 6th Street Northeast on October 16th 1960[4] Withdrawal order was placed effective November 9th 1966[5] After two decades inactive, mobilizations ensued once again for Vietnam War when federal funds became available through Military Assistance Program (MAP) program[6] On May 15th 1970 2nd Brigadeactivated at McAlester AFB support airlift mission providing medical evacuations during massive oil spill off Okmulgee River ..On December 12 th 1973 Brigadier General John Eberhart assumed command following sudden death of Honorable Harold Pemberton while commanding 515 Infantry Regiment Army National Defense Command stationed at Grand Forks Barracks North Dakota Territory responded by activation Order No 4 dated February 11 th 1974 designating city limits asOKC bordered by Choctaw Nation east side then Cherokee Nation west side forming present day boundaries [7][8][9][10][11] As part-time reserve component combat deployments occurred against El Reno/ broken Arrow bombing incidents occurring around town perimeter August 25 th 1978 resulting in several deaths ..............In commemoration 10 year anniversary ceremonies were held for both brigades upon reestablishmentthe 2nd Brigade now commanded by Major General Darlene Smith took possession march 8 th 2001

The Oklahoma National Guard was activated on September 16, 1907. The first national guard unit in Oklahoma was the 1st Infantry Regiment, which arrived from Wichita Falls, Texas on October 3, 1907. The regiment served until November 5, 1907 when it was redesignated as the 2nd Infantry Regiment. On December 15, 1907 the regiment organized at Guthrie and left for Fort Sill on January 14th of 1908. In March 1908 the regiment began exercises with the United States Signal Company at Waco. On May 12th of 1908 the regiment relieved volunteers from Company E of the 10th Cavalry District and became an element of that district’s 1st Brigade under Brigadier General James B. Shields. The brigade participated in maneuvers at Fort Worth before being stationed at McAlester in June 1908 and then relieved batteries of Artillery Battalion #2 (now Battery A) at Muskogee in July 1908 while also participating in maneuvers with Battery C (now Battery H) near Lawton on August 10-11th . On October 9th 1909 a detachment from 2nd Infantry Regiment joined Majestic Troop to form 4th Cavalry Division during National Defense Plan mobilization which lasted through 1911 In 1912 battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment were located at Norman where they remained until 1936 when battalion Headquarters moved to Tulsa In 1937 battalion was reorganized into two companies each commanded by a lieutenant colonel In 1938 company headquarters relocated back to Norman Later that year company disbanded due to heavy casualties during World War II
Oklahoma City is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, located on the southern edge of the Indian Territory. As of 2010, it had a population of over 200,000 people and is the second-largest city in Oklahoma behind Tulsa. The economic base for Oklahoma City is the professional and business services sector, with a concentration of businesses in oklahoma City's downtown area and its surrounding suburbs. Other significant sectors include finance, healthcare, manufacturing, information technology and trucking companies. The first settlement in what would become Oklahoma County was made by squatters from Texas who arrived in 1836 during the Mexican–American War. They named their new county "Oklahoma" after General Santa Anna's unit that fought at Sink Hole Creek against American forces under President James K. Polk. The first town in what would become Oklahoma City was organized on May 8, 1881 by businessmen John Wickersham and George Stephenson with support from then-Governor Of Indian Territory Wm Hulbert. In 1907, when Edmond Crain became governor of Indian Territory following territorial annexation by Mexico under President Coolidge, he designated Oklahoman John Fenton as his special agent to investigate land speculation within Indian Territory; this led to Fenton's famous 1897 speech warning about "the rope around your neck." In 1911 OKC annexed territory west of Arkansas Avenue (now north side of Constitution Ave.), including present day east side blocksnutt and west side blocksnutt streets between Grand River Boulevard (now I-35W) and Woodward Avenue (now NW 32nd Street). This annexation left an open question as to how much land could be annexed before it became an unincorporated community outside city limits; ultimately only 2/3rds of all remaining square miles within city limits were annexed without vote or agreement from residents while most other square miles were added through annexations or resolution passed by both houses of the legislature subsequent to 1913 session which authorized annexations totaling 68 square miles (@ today’s boundaries). A fire destroyed most businesses along Union Boulevard near Keystone Heights on November 16th 1904 which caused $100 million damage ($ when converted to Today’s dollars) Broad Ripple Grain Elevator was rebuilt but did not reopen until 1906 because local farmers could not compete with elevator operators due to lack of transportation infrastructure at that time It also reopened as one block away from original site across Keystone Blvd., now Rayburn Dr., NW corner Elm St., formerly home of Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot & Transfer Station

This money would eventually be used to buy more firearms and equipment for both active duty and reserve units across America. Today’s downtown OKC includes some of America’s tallest skyscrapers including OneOK Center which was completed in 2006[7], United Airlines’ main terminal renovated in 2007,[8]) numerous shopping malls (including six anchored by JCPenney, Sears, Macy’s and Dillards),[9] professional sports teams such as the Chiefs [10], Oklahoma State University Cowboys football team,[11][12]and several small theaters district blocks surrounding Central Park South downtown.[13],[14][15]. Oklahoma City was founded on November 16, 1907 by George Bird Grinnell, a rancher and politician. The city's first mayor was John Graves Simms. Oklahoma City became an incorporated city on February 24, 1907. It had a population of just over 100 people when it became an independent city. On December 3, 1907, the state of Oklahoma granted incorporation to Oklahoma City; the process took one year and two ballots. The first mayor of Oklahoma City was J.B. Jennings who served from 1909 to 1915. In 1911, the Oklahoman newspaper changed its name to "The Leader". In 1916, Mayor Jennings ran for governor as a Democrat and lost to James Farley Jr., but he still remains the most recent female mayor in Oklahoma City history. In 1922, Oklahoman newspapers began publishing Sunday editions which continued until 1959 (the last time they were published weekly).
