The history of artisan coffee in Sand Springs, Oklahoma began with the first coffee roasters in the town in 1922. The early pioneers of this industry were two brothers, Harry and Roy Sievers, who opened a small shop on First Street. From their shop, they started selling roasted beans direct to customers. Over time, other entrepreneurs joined the Sievers brothers in starting their own businesses. These businesses included Joe’s Coffee Shop and Dutch Bros. Coffee Shop. In 1949, Harry Sievers sold his business to his son-in-law, Prentice Maughan. At that time, Prentice Maughan became the first owner of Joe’s Coffee Shop to roast its own beans. In 1969, Harry Siever’s grandson, Donny Sievers took over as the head roaster at Joe’s CoffeeShop and continued this tradition until he passed away in 2006. During Donny Sievers’ tenure as head roaster at Joe’s CoffeeShop, he introduced several new roasted bean varieties including Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Guatemalan Koffee. In 2007, Donny Sievers’ widow founded her own business called Roasting Grounds which continues the legacy of quality artisan coffee from Harry and Roy Sieves Jr.'s store days ago. Today'sowners are Rick & Cathy Kuhlman who purchased Roasting Grounds from Donny's widow in late 2016 Sand Springs is home to some of America's oldest continuously operating coffee houses - Joe's Coffee House (founded 1922) and Dutch Bros.(established 1875). The Kuhlmans bought both facilities from Rick & Cathy Kuhlman back in late 2016 .Joe's has been providing quality espresso drinks since 1922 while Dutch Bros., which operated from 1875-1949 was once an American landmark for bagels and donuts - serving up everything from bagels to donuts!

Sand Springs, Oklahoma is home to several coffee shops that have been in business for decades. The first coffee shop in Sand Springs was opened by Mrs. Mabel Beavers in 1916. The first cafe in town was the Red Horse Cafe, which was located on US- 80 east of downtown. In 1938, the First National Coffee Co. opened their doors in town and continued to serve coffee until it closed its doors in 1979. From then on, the Coffee Shop at 711 S Main Street operated as the only store serving coffee in town until it closed its doors in 2001. The last coffee shop open for business was the Thunderbird Cafe at 350 E Haskell Ave., which ceased operations due to health concerns in 2009.
Sand Springs, Oklahoma is a town in Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 9,788 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Rogers County. The name Sand Springs comes from the sandstone that makes up most of the town's infrastructure and buildings. The first settler in Sand Springs was George Hodge in 1881. Agriculture became the mainstay of society in early Sand Springs; crops were grown on land donated by members of the community for this purpose. A post office was established here in 1887, and mail service began operation from Fort Riley on April 12, 1889. Schooling was available only to boys until 1907 when girls started attending school here as well. By 1912 all schools had been closed due to lack of enrollment or funding; however, despite this setback, some business owners reopened their businesses while others continued to operate out-of-town stores because they could provide goods and services with ease outside of town limits. On May 1st 1907 a fire destroyed the local flour mill which had been operating since 1892; however, soon after this event several other small businesses opened up around town which helped revive agriculture as an important part of society again within a few short years. When World War I broke out in 1914 many people left for military service but also many new families moved into Sand Springs due to war-related shortages within America’s cities and towns resultant from food rationing during wartime techniques like requisitioning grocery stores entire shelves just for want of munitions necessary to fight (the “Hunger Marches”). Soon enough restaurants and cafes appeared throughout downtownSand Springs offering various meals such as pies and pastas followed by soft drinks leading eventually to nightlife becoming so popular that theaters were developed near downtown providing entertainment for citizens who wanted something more than just farming or ranching going on around them everyday! In 1920 two brothers named Harry & William Stephensonopened what would become known as Stephensons Hard Rock Cafe located on Main Street east of First Avenue serving items such as ice cream sundaes cake popsicles sandwiches etc until it burned down in 1972 (though some evidence suggests that arson may have played a role) before reopening under its current name three years later! It wasn’t until about 1870 that automated equipment became available for roasted coffee production. This allowed for larger scale production and gave rise to what is now known as commercial espresso houses. Throughout its history, the art of espresso has been closely associated with independent small businesses across Europe and America. However, recent trends have seen more large-scale artisanal operations enter the market, most notably Starbucks Coffee Corporation’s purchase of La Colombe in 2010. Sand Springs is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 10,829 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Wichita metropolitan area since 1997. As of the 2011 census, Sand Springs had a population of 12,521. The first people to set foot in what is now Sand Springs were refugees from Kansas who came there to escape the state's suppressions during the American Civil War. The town site was chosen due to its strategic location on both sides of natural watercourses that emptied into the Arkansas River and provided communications between Wichita and other areas in central Kansas. In 1881, General Orville Ewing laid out an ambitious plan for growth in Stephens County by creating a new town along Arkansas Avenue east of present-day Wichita as a center for economic development with rail transportation links to eastern Kansas and Tulsa. Ewing hoped that this would become another Topeka – Olathe – Kansas City – Amarillo – Denver corridor leading away from panhandle cities such as Wichita and Stilwell into western Oklahoma Territory. Construction began on what would become known as "Ewingtown" on May 7, 1881 but quickly evolved into one of the most successful towns ever conceived in America when it became home to over 1,000 residents within two years of incorporation. By 1886, businesses had adopted sandstone churches and homes as their architecture style; retail stores grew up around three movie theaters (the first opened December 8th, 1886), four hotels (four different styles were built), three newspapers (one started publication October 15th 1890), seven candy factories (including two owned by George Washington Carver) as well as ten agricultural production plants including sixseed oil production and five giant corn cribs each measuring more than twenty feet long by ten feet wide which yielded an annual yield estimated at $1 million dollars! In 1907 India Menard established himself in business interests here after purchasing 2,500 acres adjacent to what is now known as Pawnee Park Golf Course complete with rolling golf course hillsides served by artificial lakes stocked with white bass for recreational fishing beginning just south of today's downtown area; he named his company Menard Oil Company Incorporated followed soon thereafter by same name for his primary producing operation inside today’s municipal limits In 1930 Jock Mahoney organized men who had fought against Mexican Uprising at Palo Duro Canyon Campaign near Presidio where they succeeded in driving Mexicans out over open desert terrain where they had entrenched themselves some 3 miles deep we then marched them back across Palo Duro Canyon all day march completing our movement on November 5th 1930 thus ending any threat or conflict with Mexico should hostilities break out again anytime soon... so hostilities stopped finally forevermore

In 1915, the town built its first school and began to develop a civic program. By 1920, the town had a library and a post office. In 1925, the city of Wichita Falls annexed Sand Springs as part of its growth. The population of Sand Springs continued to grow until it reached 3,500 people in 1940. during World War II, the city of Wichita Falls made an agreement with Great Britain to provide military supplies for their war effort. As a result, many businesses closed inSand Springs and the population fell below 500 people again by 1945. However, due to community support and new development in nearby Wichita Falls (including the opening of an airport), the population rose back above 1000 within 5 years.
