In 1916, the First Coast Guard Station in Woodward opened and it became an auxiliary station for Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. In 1929, the First Coast Guard Station in Woodward was transferred to Fort Gibson and then to McAlester Army Air Field where it remained until its closure in 1945. From 1945 until 1970 when it was closed again due to budget cuts, the Second Coast Guard Station at Woodward served as a training center for commandos from both coast guard branches. Between 1970-1975, while stationed at McAlester Army Air Field 2nd Lt Charles Anderton took over as Commandant of the Third Naval District which included all ofOklahoma City County including Woodward) The commandant's office was located on base at NW 4th Street between Sheridan Road and W 10th Ave before moving to its current location on N 30th St between Cimarron Avenue and I-40 about 1975). From 1975-1989Anderton served as Commandant for Marine Corps Base Quantico Virginia] After his retirement from service he moved back home to live with his wife near OKC.] On February 15 1998 Capt Harry Waddell (Retired) assumed command of USCG Centralized Training Center - also known as "Woodward" after him] The CGWC activated 3rd MarDiv (USCG Search & Rescue) on December 12 1998 from USFOR Jacksonville Florida following Hurricane Mitch] As search & rescue operations increased during Katrina aftermath we requested funding from FEMA through Operation Neptune's Spear; however request was denied because search&rescue mission is not defined under disaster relief law] During our tour at WTC we conducted searches for survivors along Lake Pontchartrain & Gulfport Mississippi;[This operation is also sometimes called "Search For Survivors"] On September 21 2003 Maj assigned to NTSB Washington D C who was investigating terrorist threats against transportation facilities received information that two containers filled with explosives had been shipped by air cargo directly into New Orleans Port Authority so she ordered a surface search off Louisiana state line using Lighthouse Sonar Array]; no results were found but subsequent explosive testing did not Support this belief[/new][On October 25 2003 Captain John Metzger commanding USS Enterprise assisted by USS Constitution searched off Louisiana state line with sonar arrays after receiving information two container filled with explosives had been shipped by air cargo directly into New Orleans Port Authority so she ordered a surface search off Louisiana state line using sonar arrays; again no results were found but later Explosive Testing Supported This Belief]] By 2006 when Homeland Security began their watch protection program across 2002 - 2005 period employees manning coastal media centers received new uniforms similar to those currently being worn by Customs agents outside portsAll these changes occurred during a time when most local businesses were closed or converted inside local police stations/courts houses while law enforcement continued performing their core functions within those buildings

Woodward is a small town in Oklahoma that has been home to manyOklahoma politicians and journalists over the years. The town was founded by John C. Woodward in 1901, and he served as its mayor from 1912 to 1916. The Woodward family still live in the town today and have played a role in many aspects of town life over the years. One of John C. Woodward's sons, John A. Woodward, served as governor of Oklahoma from 1967 to 1971 and again from 1979 to 1985. In addition, another son, Wesley J. Woodward, was an assistant U.S. attorney general during the Reagan administration and also ran for office on several occasions (including unsuccessfully for the United States Senate). In recent decades, however, most of the prominent residents have either passed away or moved away from Woodward altogether; most notable among these are former Mayor John A.'s grandson Wesley J.'s wife Mildred Kapp who currently lives in Gainesville, Texas and their two children Peter and Tamera Kapp who both attend college there; as well as current Mayor Joe Lunsford's daughter Kathy Lunsford who is a teacher at OKC Western High School The first settler in what is now Oklahoman City was George Hinton in 1824 when he homesteaded land east of present day Blackwell Road near present day Canfora Avenue John C. In 1914, the U.S Coast Guard was created as a result of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. The Coast Guard's first vessel was the Motor Boat USAT Enterprise which arrived in Seattle on October 15th. In 1916, the Coast Guard's first cutter, HMCS Pioneer, made its debut during World War I and served with distinction until she was sunk off Normandy by German submarines on June 6th, 1944. The Coast Guard's only aircraft carrier during World War II were two Boeing 707s that served as training planes for Naval Aviators School at NAS Jacksonville, Florida. The Coast Guard has continued to be a major provider of maritime security and counterterrorism services through both peacetime and wartime times. In Fiscal Year 2017, they received $812 million in funding from Congress to purchase new vessels and equipment including 12 helicopters, 10 boats, three drones and four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). As part of their work to improve maritime situational awareness across all areas of the country they also operate an underwater Surveillance system known as LUMINOS Lifejackets which provide real-time monitoring of activity around Two Islands located about 120 miles due east of Los Angeles Harbor - Catalina Island and Shasta Island - providing valuable information to local law enforcement officers who can make decisions based on that information. Most recently the Coast Guard has announced plans to purchase eight large icebreaker ships starting in 2021 - this will make them one of only a handful nations in the world with such capability! These vessels can help patrol routes adjacent to America’s coasts while also providing humanitarian assistance if needed. Additionally they are also equipped with sensors that can sense things like water temperature changes or even oil spills so we can better respond should those events occur offshore! Woodward, Oklahoma is a small town located in Comanche County, Oklahoma. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. Woodward was founded by white settlers in 1881. It was named for General George Armstrong Custer and his cavalry unit which fought in the Mexican-American War. Woodward post office opened in 1887. The community became an agricultural center during the late 19th century and early 20th century due to its location on the Arkansas River flood plain. In 1930, Woodward had a population of 892; it declined to 784 at the 2000 census. The Hubbell-Wright Manufacturing Company operated a small paper mill here until 2009 when it ceased operations because of economic conditions in nearby Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The mill closed because of declines in demand for paper products throughout much of North America due to global recessionary conditions beginning in 2008. Woodward is located at (36.*26.*101). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2 km²), all land. As of 2010, there were 1,569 people residing in Woodward: 408 male and 489 female residents; 2 black or African American residents; 3 Native Americans or Alaska Natives residents; 6 whites
Woodward was founded by F.W. Woodward in 1881. The town became an important center for oil production after the discovery of the Arbuckle oilfield in 1907. In 1916, Oklahoma State University was established in Woodward and it remains one of the state's most prominent educational institutions today.
