The store was a hardware business, and sold firearms, ammunition, knife PARTS AND ACCESSORIES For all your hunting & fishing needs and other items related to firearms including holster fittings, stocks, targets etc., as well as sporting goods such as bows & arrows. It continued to be a popular destination for shooters until the early 1900s when prohibition made it difficult for people to get hold of pistols or shotguns legally. In 1907, Harry Waddell opened his owngun shop in Hermiston after years of owning a shooting gallery near here called Waddell's rifle range (now closed). From then on it would be the norm for people in Hermiston to go into Waddell's store to buy their firearms! Prior to this time there were only twogun stores left in Oregon: one in Corvallis and one at Bend.

Hermiston, Oregon is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon. The population was 621 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of the Willamette River, less than two miles north of downtown Portland. Hermiston is named after grazer George Herimann, who settled there in 1887 and built a log cabin. In 1907, he donated land to the city for development as an agricultural center. The town has since grown into a bedroom community for Portland with close access to Interstate 5 and other major highways. The town began as a small farming community with only six families around 1880s when George Herimann came to Hermiston from Germany to homestead and start a cattle ranch operation. He built his cabin near what is now Hermiston Elementary School on what would later become part of his ranchland; today it remains evidence of his pioneering efforts in this area. By 1890, however, many people had flocked to the area due to its fertile soil and good water resources; by 1998, there were over 1,200 residents living in Hermiston according to the 2010 census estimate

It became a census-designated place in 1959, and has since grown to over 30,000 residents. The town has a rich history that can be traced back to its early days as a small farming community. George Hermiston came to Oregon from England in 1851 and started farming in what is now Hermiston. He married Augusta (née Brown) in 1867, and together they formed the first permanent settler group in Hermiston. They were pioneers who built the first schoolhouse and store on Main Street in 1887. After World War II,Hermiston experienced rapid growth thanks to the influx of workers from nearby Portland. In the 1950s, Herbstons saw their population increase by more than 50%. Over time, however, the pace of growth slowed or stopped altogether as various factors including cost of living pressures replaced jobs with new opportunities outside of Hermiston. However, recentrowth has returned with strong support from local businesses and citizens alike – this year's population was 27,711 according to the 2015 U.S. Census report! Today, Herbston is a thriving community that offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking/biking/swimming etc., as well as cultural attractions like its annual Farmer's Markets & Art Fair which draws artists from around the region each fall. There are also several high-quality schools within walking distance of residents – perfect for families looking for quality education right near home!
