One of these traders, James A. Cook, founded a trading post in 1825 at what is now known as Keizer. The post became an important stop on the Oregon Trail and helped promote western trade. At its peak in 1830, the Keizer Trading Company had a population of over 100 people and operated out of four buildings. The company also bought and sold goods from settlers throughout Oregon and California. In 1851, Cook's grandson, John A. Cook Sr., took over the business operations after his father's death. John A. Cook Sr.'s sons continued to run the company until it merged with another furrier organization in 1865 to form the Oregon Fur Company Limited Partnership (OFC). During Johns' ownership tenure, Keizer began to grow rapidly as a agricultural town. In 1868-69, he built a small mill on the Sauk River for flour production purposes. By 1870,Keizer had become one of Oregon's leading grain centers and exported more than three million bushels of wheat each year. John Aiken passed away in 1893ai4 bequeathing his fortune to several charities including the Oregon Agricultural College (now University OfOregon) which he endowed with $10 million dollars in 1918; Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Company which donated $5 million dollars towards education programs at Widmer Library at Portland State University;[and] Presbyterian Church - Josephine County Branch which gave $100 thousand towards building renovations at Butler Chapel located on Wilson Street near downtown Keizer.] His son James Aiken Jr., who succeeded him as CEO of OFC, continued development at KEIZER until his death in 1976,. During James' reign there were numerous new projects such as construction of two new schools - Stonington Elementary School (1927) and Butler Chapel School District #2 (1964), increased production capacity for KEIZER's millinery operation; renovation/addition of two businesses - SCRAPBOOKS & SHOPPING MALL (1928),[AND] JAMES AIKEN JR.'S FURNITURE CO.(1934)]. Keizer, Oregon is a town in Linn County, Oregon, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous community in Linn County and the county seat of Linn. The first European to visit the area now known as Keizer was John Wesley Powell in 1869. He named it "Osoyoos". In 1877, C.F. Beasley opened a store there and soon developed into a small town with seven homes and two businesses providing goods and services to residents of nearby Willamette Valley towns such as Salem and Eugene. By 1912, Keizer had 10 homes and three businesses; it had also become the site of an annual livestock fair that attracted hundreds of people from all over Oregon to sell their animals or take home eggs or meat from local farmers. In 1931, when Keizer became part of the newly created Portland metropolitan area, its status grew even more as it became one of the leading commercial areas in Northwest Portland with its own police department and fire department (the city's first). When lumber magnate Einar Aaronson donated land for what would become downtown Keizer in 1942 he also announced his intention to create a new city government which would be separate fromPortland's government but share many same resources including tax dollars for downtown development (this policy still applies today). As part of the process for creating downtown Keizer City Hall was built on top of an old mill which served as both a polling place for early voting during World War II as well as housing during peak voter registration times in 1946-1948 due to efforts by then-mayor Floyd Flournoy Sr.. The building remains standing today - used by both downtown Keitzer City Hall itself as well as various public agencies withinPortland proper since 1951 (and currently being leased by Hillsboro Community College). On July 1st 2006 Mayor Gordon Wright merged cities of Portland & Southwest Portland into one municipality effective November 3rd 2006 under territorial designation called "Keiser-Southwest Portland"

Keizer is a town in Butte County, Oregon, United States. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butte County. It was founded by George Keizer in 1887 on the edge of the buttes that now make up the city of Portland. The first post office in Keizer was established in 1892. The name "Keizer" came from John Keiser, who bought land near what is now downtownKeizer in 1881. In 1907, George Keizer donated 7 acres (28,000 m2) to become downtownKeizer's original business district. He also built a new courthouse and jail in downtownKeizers early years. In 1912, the Oregon Legislature created Butte County out of part of Multnomah County and annexed parts of Butte and Lane Counties east of the Willamette River. However, because Multnomah had already borne most of the cost for building roads and other infrastructure within its borders - including $1 million for Threadville Dam - only about one-third of its population moved into Butte County when it was created; most moved to nearby cities or towns within Multnomah County such as Salem andPortland. DowntownKeizer remained largely undeveloped until after World War II when real estate prices started rising around metropolitan areas across North America due to growing consumer demand for suburban homes outside major urban areas
Keizer was founded in 1853 by John Keizer and his brother, William. The town was named for Oregon's first Territorial Governor, George Vancouver. In 1863, the Oregon Legislature designated Keizer as the seat of Klondike County. The county developed rapidly and by 1870 had a population of over 6,000 people. By 1900, Keizer had reached its peak with a population of over 20,000 people. However, during World War I the town declined as many residents enlisted in the military or left to find work outside of Oregon. After the war ended in 1918, Keizer experienced another growth spurt with new businesses arrivals and an influx of refugees from Northern California. From 1925 until its annexation into city limits in 1961, Keizer remained relatively unchanged with just a few small changes including the addition of a public library and fire station.
