Lake Oswego, Oregon is a town in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 10,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Sale area. The first coffee crop in Lake Oswego was grown by John Day and his partners in 1855. In 1862, the men of Pioneer Coffee Company founded the town's first grocery store. Pioneer Coffee also started to roast its own beans. By 1870, Lake Oswego had a population of 1,500 people and began to grow coffee beans for export to Japan and other parts of the world. In 1898, entrepreneur James Cockerill organized a group of farmers who bought 20 acres (8 hectares) along Duckett Creek near present day Lake Oswego for $1 an acre (0·30 m²). This land became known as "Cockerill Park." The first harvest from this new farm took place in 1899. Cockerill continued to operate his farm until 1923 when he sold it to Edwin Ladds for $6 per acre (2·00 ha). From 1923 through 1951, Ladds ran the Duckett Estate Coffee Farm which produced about 100 metric tons (1 tonne) of coffee each year before being auctioned off and becoming part of Forest Service property in 1978. During World War II, several hundredeeksLakeOswegofeamworkersbecameinvolvedinthecoffeeprocessingindustrybecauseoftheneedtosurfaceintheproductionofmilitarygoodsthatwere needed inthespaceofwarrelocatingtonewasiaandpromotinginternationalcoffeeproductioninsteadofthedistilledalcoholicproductswithoutinterferencefromelsewhere.(Goudreau1977) A team led by Don Walsh picked up where Walsh left off after World War II and began roasting their own beans from 1961 until they discontinued production in 1999; today most Lake Oswego cafes still offer Don Walsh roasted coffee products from pre-1971 bean bags that are hand sorted on site using old methods such as water bath charring and rolling with a wire brush.) Artisan coffee is a type of coffee that is made by hand. This particular type of coffee is derivitally from Ethiopia, where it is known as Keffe. The beans are roasted in small batches, and the final product has a unique flavor and aroma. The first time I tasted artisan coffee was at an Ethiopian restaurant in Los Angeles. I was amazed at how good the coffee was- it had a rich flavor and was very smooth. I have since tried many different types of artisan coffee, and I have found that all of them are excellent. Some of my favorites include the Breakfast Blend, Vanilla Bean, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Robusta Sudanese Coffee, & Ethiopian Harissa Coffee. artisan coffee can be enjoyed for its own sake or used in conjunction with other food items. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, and it can be brewed with either single origin or blended beans. There are also many different variations on the artisanship principle that make each cup unique. These nations also imported various supplies needed for brewing - including ground beans (from Africa), filters (made from animal skin), water tanks (for heating and cooling), ovens/stoves, mills (to grind the beans), paddles (for stirring) - all of which helped shape the taste profiles that we enjoy today with our favorite artisanal espresso products! During World War II several important changes took place within the coffee industry - firstly because production plummeted due to rationing; secondly because Beans were confiscated by Germany during occupation; finally because production resumed once liberation came! Lake Oswego, Oregon is a census-designated place in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. The population was 3,944 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1879 by John Day and James Fenton as a small fishing village on the southern edge of present-day Lake Oswego. The first post office in Lake Oswego opened on July 1, 1879. On October 12, 1881, the town became a city under the name of Portland. The population grew rapidly during the late 19th century as agriculture boomed around Bend and Milwaukie; logging increased along its banks beginning in the early 20th century; and industry developed near downtown with breweries such as Pabst Brewing (founded 1865), Allagash Brewing (founded 1902), and Klondike Brewing (founded 1907). In 1932–1933, during World War II residents built an airfield adjacent to their community for use by military personnel stationed in Oregon. In 1953–1954 United States Route 97 was rerouted through town via then-Highway 99W to connect with Interstate 5 at Willamette Valley Airport north of Medford. As Lake Oswego's economic development stalled after World War II, local businesses began selling their products online or other ecommerce platforms before finally moving into bricks-and-mortar stores over time. After years of experimentation with different business models, in November 2016 Lake Oswego implemented an eCommerce pilot program that saw more than 50% increase in retail sales from flagship store alone In 2018 City Council approved annexing much of Southeast Portland for $4 million to create a new city called "Oregon Crossing" which would include: an office park complex known as AIG Park; two new high school campuses—one for Vista High School students and one for Gordon Hiatt High School students; a mixed uses development anchored by several large hotels including Radisson Blu Harborfront Hotel & Tower IMAX cinema; an arena/multi-purpose sports stadium known as OSU Arena/Stadium 2; mixed housing units developments known as Tanglewood Annexe developments (the last three are currently being built); and access to Interstate 5 east of downtown which would make it possible for commuters to get into Portland without driving
