The coffee shop was called The Coffee Shop and it served coffee, danishes, and pie. In 1978, The Coffee Shop closed its doors and was replaced by a modern coffee house named "The Bean". In 2007, "The Bean" closed its doors for good after more than 50 years of serving delicious java to locals and tourists alike. But that didn't mean the coffee business couldn't continue on! In 2013, a new coffee shop called "Strawberry Hill"opened up in town. This cafe serves up delicious cupcakes, donuts, pastries, and more! Springfield, Oregon is a small town located in the Snake River Valley of central Oregon. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bend-based Willamette Valley metropolitan area. Springfield is known for its giant sequoias and as one of the most diverse cities in Oregon. The beginnings of Springfield can be traced back to 1847 when Jedediah Smith discovered gold near what would become Springfield. A group of Mormons from Salt Lake City moved to this area in search of gold and silver. They petitioned the United States government for permission to establish a settlement but were not granted permission until 1858. The first settler was Samuel Finley who built an adobe house on land that he purchased from John Day. The town quickly flourished with sporadic explorations by prospectors until 1861 when representatives from Utah visited this area looking for new land to settle on and discovered gold nearby. This stimulated further development around Springfield with erected buildings such as a jail, store, post office and flour mill which became one of the landmarks in townscape today. In 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6109 which ordered all Japanese Americans living east of California be deported without any due process or trial; this order led to mass civil disobedience by many Japanese American citizens who refused to leave their homes or face punishment if they did so. Despite pressure from Ulysses S Grant and other leaders within America's government, no action was taken against these citizens because they were protected under Section 8 (of the Immigration and Nationality Act) which exempted people with "good moral character" from being deported without notice or trial. This situation continued into World War II when many Japanese American families chose Not ToFight because they knew their loved ones would be among those affected by Japan's militarism and aggression during that time period - something that still continues today alongwith various forms of hate crimes targeting individuals based on their race or national origin today. Although progress has been made over the years, there are still areas where much work needs to be done in order for Springfield to reach its full potential as an innovative community committed towards creating wealth within our local economy while also striving towards becoming a welcoming place for everyone regardless their background or experience - something that we continue working tirelessly towards every day!

Springfield, Oregon is a small town located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The population was 5,021 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Springfield were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game near present day downtown Portland. In 1842, Major George Wright arrived in what is now Springfield with his army and founded the nearby town of Hood River as a military outpost. When General Ulysses S. Grant's army passed through on their way from California to fight against Santa Clara County in 1849, they called Hood River home and left a permanent garrison there. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Union forces burned down Hood River Bridge which destroyed most of downtown Springfield. Once Reconstruction began in America following the war, many white farmers moved into what is now Springfield while African Americans returned to their homes in Portland or went into servitude on plantations outside of town. In 1949, when Jefferson High School opened its doors for students after being built using public funds from Measure 3 (also known as "the bond issue"), it was one of only two high schools open for students south of Interstate 5 within city limits at that time; the other being North High School across Commercial Street from City Hall. The school operated temporarily out of an old printing office until permanent quarters could be found due to lack of space at Jefferson’s original location on Northeast Ninth Avenue across from City Hall (now Dewey Square). Public funding became available for school construction following Measure 97 which increased property values around town by $1 million and generated over $30 million worth of development statewide between 1947 and 1957 alone – including new housing developments such as South Park Place and Julius Caesar Downs just east of City Hall along Northeast Ninth Avenue – making it one ofOregon’s largest ever educational infrastructure investments during that time period Jefferson closed its doors permanently in 1963 due to budget cuts but reopened again under new management as Northwest Oregon Technical College before closing completely again in 1996 . Today NWOTC offers associate degrees programs leading up to certificates/ diplomas degree levels within several areas including business administration/commerce/marketing/industrial engineering/information technology; health sciences; architecture; criminal justice; information technology: data entry & analytical services; turfgrass agronomy
The first settlement in Springfield was made in 1847 by Captain John A. Fuller and his family. The area that is now Springfield was part of the Deschutes Indian Reservation until 1862 when the Oregon Territory was created. In 1864, a group of settlers from Portland, Oregon started a farm near what is now downtown Springfield. By 1870, the town had grown to over 100 people and it became an incorporated city in 1887. The population declined during World War II due to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, but rose after the war because of new housing developments and new economic opportunities.
