In addition to housing numerous educational institutions such as a law school and a psychiatric hospital present at that time- both are still operating today-Stmary’s also played host to many significant events including Presidential inaugurations and World Wars I and II respectively!

The first European settlers in what is now Pennsylvania arrived in 1681 with William Penn's founding of the Colony of Pennsylvania. In 1747, following the French and Indian War, British colonists founded a small town on the western bank of the Susquehanna River known as York (now Harrisburg).
