Coffee was first brought to Central Falls, Rhode Island by Captain John Brown in 1765. The Dutch had arrived in the area some time earlier and began growing coffee beans. The first coffee house in Central Falls was opened by Capt. John Brown in 1795. In 1816, a mill was built near the present day intersection of Main and King Streets and coffee became a popular drink for local merchants and farmers. By 1830, the brown paper bag cup had become ubiquitous throughout Rhode Island and Coffeehouses were being established all over the state. Cupronican Typewriter Companyoperated from 1903-1909 at 158 State Street (now known as Meetinghouse Street). Owned by Mr. Wm Fenton who also operated a press for typecasting services, this company produced approximately one million cups of typewriter type each year between 1903-1909. From 1909 until their sale to Ecker & Whitney in 1924 they were located at 6 Broadway where they continued to produce typewriters until moving to 5 Union Street in 1951 where they remain today as one of downtown Providence's oldest businesses

Central Falls, Rhode Island is a small town in the central part of Rhode Island. The population was 9,715 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cumberland County and one of the most populous towns in Rhode Island. The first permanent settlement in what is now Central Falls was made by Captain John Smith on December 4, 1636 when he and his men set up a trading post on land that later became known as Smith's Landing. At first, only white men were allowed to live there because they were deemed too risky for Native American traders. By 1701, however, some Indians had also arrived in Central Falls and began trading with Europeans. On July 1, 1722, General James Kieft established Fort George on Point Judith Hill to protect Providence from French Bayou pirates. After Kieft's death in 1724, his successor Benedict Arnold organized an expedition against the French and successfully defended Providence from them in 1725-27. This event helped spur development aroundFort George and soon other settlements sprang up along the river near it: Coventry (founded byCaptain John Merrill), West Warwick (founded by Colonel Nicholas Warner), East Greenwich (founded by Major Samuel Waterhouse), Northumberland (founded by Judge Jonathan Edwards), Narragansett (founded by Nicholas Noyes) and Cranston (established by Reverend Nathaniel Wenham). Many people who moved to Central Falls during this time came from New England or elsewhere around Massachusetts because of its fertile soil and cheap labor available for farming purposes during these early days of America's colonies. One such person was Roger Williams who founded Providence Plantation near present day Memorial Hall in 1636 following a journey through England where he had seen great promise for religious freedom if he could find enough settlers willing to follow him into conflict with government authorities. In fact, many people who settled down here during this time considered themselves martyrs – they died fighting against British rule while still living within their own homes rather than moving away permanently to take up arms against their new countrymen abroad. In 1801 Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduate Isaac Asimov created one of America's earliest computer programs - "Ender's Game". Present day Main Street stretches almost 3 blocks eastward totaling nearly 400 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS PUBLISHING history!!!
Central Falls, Rhode Island is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island and the only incorporated town in the county. The population was 10,813 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Narragansett Bay tidal estuary and bordered by Pawtucket to the north, Fall River to the east, South Kingstown to the south, and Newport to the west. Central Falls Industrial Park borders both towns. The first settler in Central Falls was John Gray who arrived in 1693. There were eleven other settlers in Central Falls before 1710 when Captain Israel Putnam built a mill on Ruggles Creek which became known as Putnam's Mill. In 1712 Colonel Nathaniel Chandler bought land near present-day Central Falls for £2 per acre (US$ ). He named his new community after himself – Chandler's Mills – while still living in England. In 1717 Samuel White founded Hanover Village on what is now known as Whitehall Street between Fall River Road and Church Street; this village served as an important center of trade for several years until it burned down around 1721. A new Hanover Village was established on what is now First Avenue between Second Street and Third Street about two miles away from where White Hall had been situated; this village lasted until about 1768 when it also burned down. The first post office was established in 1801 with David Holmes serving as postmaster; however, due to failed mail delivery efforts that year, Holmes closed his business within a few months of its establishment. The first telephone service arrived in 1903 with G Bell providing service from a small building located on Meeting House Square across from Presentation Congregational church; however, because of competition from wire services providers such as AT&T, Bell shut down its phone service within five years of its inception The original dam constructed by Samuel Whiteshing for power generation purposes at present-day Central Falls became operational during 1912 following construction of a new powerhouse just upstream frompresent-day downtown central falls . This powerhouse provided continuous electricity tothe city of Providence for over fifty years until it finally stopped working during 1965 . After thirty years of decline starting with World War II when manufacturing leftcentral falls behind many businesses opened up along ruggles creek or outside centralfalls including fitness centers cctv systems restaurants etc some have still been open but mostly closed
