This was followed up with a further donation in 1849 which gave 5 tonnes of ground coffee to the London School Board! 4) It wasn’t until 1865 that Starbucks began selling their own beans (and later other brands). At this point in time, however, many gifters were still sending whole bags or sacks of beans as gifts instead of individual cups or pods! 5) In 1922, Mr and Mrs Jardine donated 3 metric tons (3000 kgs)of pure Ethiopian red bean paste (known as “Jardine” Coffee), worth £8000 at that time, to the Royal Society for Chemistry in order to promote research into caffeine production techniques . 6) Between 1946 and 1957 various benefactors provided premiums worth approximately $200 per tonne (a total value approaching $2 million dollars at present day prices*) with each purchase resulting in two bags/bags or 36 cups/pods being sent directly from Ethiopia!* (* Note: These payments were never made directly into Addis Ababa bank accounts.) 7) After World War II ended there was an increase in requests for roasted Sumatra beans because they were considered more rich and complex than just ground beans.* (*Note: These payments were never made directly into Addis Ababa bank accounts.) 8) Coffee continues its popularity as a gift item even today with people electing to send single-serving pods or small packs rather than whole boxes/bags when giving away their favorite beverage.* (*Note: These payments were never made directly into Addis Ababa bank accounts.)

It is one of the most historically significant towns in Rhode Island because it was founded by English colonists in 1636 as New Netherland. The town became an American city in 1898 and merged with Providence to form Providence-Newport-Providence (PNP) city government. Newton Plantation – This plantation was situated on what is now Warwick Boulevard and Park Avenue in Newport. It was owned by Sir John Newton who sold it to Increase Mather in 1638. After Mather's death, it passed through several hands until 1807 when it came into the hands of Ezra Stiles US Congressman from Rhode Island. During his term as congressman, he used Newton's plantation for hunting and fishing purposes as well as for growing crops such as rice and tobacco. The opening of the Erie Canal led to increased trade between Newport and Buffalo, New York; this led to more jobs for people living in Newport and its neighboring townships which were once reliant on agriculture or fishing alone. In 1834, Rev Dr Samuel Eliot Morison dedicated a chapel called Trinity Episcopal Church near modern day State Street in Newport which served as a gathering place for local residents since earliest colonial days when churches had been important social hubs for communities throughout America In 1898, after centuries of growth within its boundaries but without merger with other nearby municipalities, Providence-Newport-Providence City (PNP) amalgamated with Portsmouth to form RI’s first true metropolitan area consisting of all seven municipalities plus Kingstown annexed from Coventry Township effective July 1st 1978 . famous residents include: Ulysses S Grant (1822–1885), James Kappan (1826–1913), Nathanial Hawthorne (1837–1902), Edwin Channing Crane (1848–1925), Winthrop Stratton Whitney (c1795–1874)
