The Huron Tribe has been fishing in the area now known as South Dakota for over 10,000 years. The first white people to arrive in what is now South Dakota were Dutch settlers in 1617. They named the area “Hudson Bay” after the Dutch captain who discovered it.
Huron is a town located in Sioux County, South Dakota, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 2,651. It is the county seat for Sioux County. The name Huron comes from the Sac and Fox language, which refers to a creek that runs through the town. The first settler in Huron was John Beecham, who came to the area in 1881. He built a cabin on what is now Fourth Street. In 1882, Jens Christensen arrived and started a farm near where Third Avenue meets Fourth Street. In 1889, Ole Hansen settled near First Avenue and Seventh Street and began raising cattle. In 1902, Anders Lange bought land at Third Avenue and Sixth Street and started an oil refinery; it still stands today as Lange Oil Refinery #2. In 1907, Sverre Nordal arrived with his family from Norway and set up shop at Second Avenue and Eighth Street; he became known as "Nordal's Father". Nils Olsen opened a grocery store on NinthStreet in 1914 (). Olaf Kjærstad opened a mill on TenthStreet in 1916 (). The first post office was established at SixthStreetand Eighth Streets in 1918 (). Norwegian American Bund had its first meeting here on December 15th of that year (). While there were some other early settlers such as Lars Rasmussen (1887-1914), Ole Jensen (1889-1902), Hans Pedersen (1900-1986) , Einar Nielsen (1896-1976) who also ranched land (), Willi Meierhoffer (1897-) all of whom have been mentioned before but not specifically named therein we can only suggest they may have come after John Beecham or Sverre Nordal when it comes tosettlers arriving during those years given their proximity to those specific areas and what records were available at that time

The Huron people are a Sioux tribe that lived in South Dakota. The Huron people have been living in South Dakota for over 350 years. The Huron tribes were first introduced to the area by the French in the 18th century. At that time, the French wanted to trade with the Sioux and other Native Americans. The French also built Fort Snelling on the Missouri River in present-day Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1798. This fort was used as a trading post between Europe and North America. In 1821, Isaac Parker set up a school on the banks ofthe Missouri River near what is now Pierre, Iowa, to teach white children about Indian life. In 1863, General Andrew Johnson ordered all Native Americans living east of his army’s line to move west of it into reservations or be killed. Many of these people were the Huron people. As a result of this order, many of the Huron people moved to South Dakota because their homes and land had been taken away from them. The first settlers who came to South Dakota were Dutchman Willem de Vries and his family in 1871. Other early settlers include John Gregg (1881), George Armstrong Custer (1885), Charles Goodnight (1886), Augustus Sully (1900), and Henry Wirtz (1901). After World War I ended, many American soldiers came home from Europe and decided to start families in South Dakota. These soldiers brought with them their wives and children who lived with them for awhile after they got back home before moving on onto other farms or starting their own businesses. Some of these soldiers also founded villages such as Fordsburg and Aberdeen which still exist today. TheHurons eventually became one of the most successful tribes when they started trading with Europeans again during World War II because they learned how to boatskis and build canoes using European technology. They also learned how to make guns so they could protect themselves against European encroachment on their territory once again! However, like all other cultures at this time, some aspects of their traditional way of life slowly died out as new technologies arrived online or elsewhere within society without necessarily replacing them completely!
