Goodlettsville is a town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,693 at the 2010 census. Goodlettsville is located on the Cumberland River and is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Goodlettsville grew up around military installations. The most famous of these is Fort Donelson, which was built in 1819 and became an important strategic location in the War of 1812. Other installations include Goodwood Army Airfield (now Wright-Patterson Air Force Base), Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg, and Fort Polk. The town's first post office was opened in 1881. Goodlettsville has been a military installation since World War I when it became home to Camp Beauregard under General John J. Pershing as part of his Plan No. 1 for Allied occupation of central America. Camp Beauregard served as a training ground for American soldiers during World War II before being decommissioned in 1947 and becoming known as Arlington Park Military Airport later that year. In 1951, Goodletttsville becoming home to Dover Air Force Base after it was acquired by the United States from Britain following its victory over Japan in World War II; Dover served as a main base for operations against enemy forces during both Korea and Vietnam until its closure in 1991 due to budget cuts). GoodlettVILLE also played host to NATO's multinational air force exercise "Wessex" between 1955-1956 which took place near Myrtle Beach AFB South Carolina During peacetime there are few events that occur outside of garrison duty but wartime events can lead to changes within the community such as increased regulation on alcohol sales or increase patrols by local police officers while stationed at goodleytown

Goodlettsville has been a military deployment destination for years. The city is home to the Goodlettsville Arsenal, which was founded in 1811 as the Tennessee Arsenal and Today houses the Army's arsenal of weapons.

Goodlettsville is a small town in the county of Davidson, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. The community is located in the northeastern corner of Williamson County and is bordered on the north by Goodlettsville Township, on the east by Hickory Ridge Township, on the south by Lynchburg Township, and on the west by Donelson Park. It lies within ZIP Code 76523. The area that would become Goodlettsville was first settled in 1855 when James A. Goodlett donated land to be named after him. The community took its name from General James A. Goodlett who fought in both Confederate and Union armies during the American Civil War. In 1881, two years after his death, Goodlett's wife Julia donated land to establish a school district which would include Goodlettsville. At that time there were only three schools in Williamson County: one in Louisville and two located in goodlytowns such as Donelson and Radcliff Springs. In 1924 local man Wernher Hoehn founded what would become AutoZone Corporation hereabouts; he later served as its president until his death in 1987. In 1958 Goodlettsville became home to one of America's first locally owned television stations when WHAS-TV (channel 4) signed on with a transmission tower built here from scratch. The station went offthe air Decatur Broadcasting Company predecessor WCVE-TV (channel 5) due to financial troubles just four months later. WHAS4 continued operations for about five more years before moving across town to its current location atop Donelson Mountain where it has been continuously broadcasting ever since.
Goodlettsville also experienced some heavy traffic congestion during peak hours due to its proximity to I-35W which made access difficult for most drivers; however this has slowly started improving over time.
