The Belton Air Force Base gift history goes back to World War II when the air force founded its own gift shop. The base's first gift shop was located in the barracks on Kennedy Boulevard. After the war, the military began moving away from traditional gifts such as books and radios, and towards more modern items like computers and video games. In 1957, the air force established a second gift shop on East Expressway in Belton. This store continued to sell traditional gifts until 1999, when it was closed down due to budget cuts. Since then, the air force has partnered with several local businesses to create a new gift store on East Texas Boulevard in Belton which continues to sell traditional gifts.
Belton, Texas is a small town located in the Hill Country ofTX. The population was 5,895 at the 2010 census. Belton is part of the Tyler-Rogers School District. It is one of two towns (the other being Hutchinson) in Tyler County that are not part of the Austin metropolitan area. Belton was founded by coffee grower and cattle rancher John Belton in 1881. The first post office was established in 1882. In 1907, the name changed to Belton, Texas after John's son, William H. Belton Jr., who became an important figure in railroad construction and statehood in 1911. John Belton High School opened in 1927 and was named for him and his son William H. Belton Sr.. The belTON company operated a cotton gin on Main Street from 1912 to 1915; it closed because of World War I shortages of cottonseed oil and other resources used to produce fabric for military uniforms). The City Council voted on Monday night, November 9th, 1916 to rename US Highway 183 "John H.belTON Boulevard" in his honor as a tribute to his long service to the community and support for education within the community which he helped create! The street remains known as "BelTON Boulevard" today despite changes made along its path over time including extending US Highway 183 eastward into neighboring Hutchinson after Hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage to that portion of Tyler County

Belton was founded in 1837 by John Belton. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Brazos River and its access to water resources. By 1860, Belton had a population of over 1,500 people. In 1865, the Texas Railroad Company built a line from Houston to Centralia, Texas, which led to increased traffic and development in the area. In 1876, the first oil wells were drilled in Belton and it quickly became an important center for petroleum production. In 1898, a new courthouse was built in Belton and it served as the town's central headquarters until 1911 when the old courthouse was replaced by a new one. The oil industry declined after World War II but Belton continued to grow well into the 21st century. Today,Belton is home to several businesses including a hospital and two high schools.
