Crowley is a small town located in the panhandle of Texas. The population was 3,653 as of the 2010 census. It is the only municipality in Crowley County and it is part of the Stephen F. Austin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee farm in Crowley was established by John S. Robertson in 1887. In 1898, George W. McDonald opened a roaster and grocery store in downtown Crowley. The Crawford Coffee Roasters Corporation was founded in 1987 by businessman Rick Crawford, who also founded Crowley's first restaurant, Heavenly Bites BBQ & Pub, which closed its doors in 1997 after twenty-one years in business. In 2000, Starbucks announced plans to open a retail location at 4885 FM 2736 outside of Crowley for its Sam's Club chain presence within the county limits; this would be the first Starbucks store to open within Texas since 1992 when they opened their first store near Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (now Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport). The coffee shop's closure came as a surprise to many residents and businesses who had grown accustomed to seeing Starbucks signage throughout town on both streetlights and building windows; however, local officials said that they were not able to find any evidence that Starbucks had ever made any offers or proposals for relocation to Crowley other than making idle threats over the phone over time. In early 2009, MidAmerica Foods Inc., LLC filed suit against Walt Disney Co., claiming infringement of MidAmerica Foods' intellectual property rights relating to "Frozen", an animated feature released by Walt Disney Pictures on November 14th 2008 through Touchstone Home Video Distribution Inc.; Mid America Foods alleged that Frozen features elements exclusive to its product line that are not found on any other competing DVD or digital format releases from Touchstone Home Video Distribution Inc., including those distributed by Paramount Pictures Domestic Television Distribution Company subsidiary Viacom Media Networks (now CBS Broadcasting Inc.) and Time Warner Entertainment Company subsidiary HBO Worldwide Servicesdivision Turner Broadcasting System inc.; plaintiffs allege that defendants' products infringe uponMid America Foods copyrights with respect to characters properties such as Elsa from 'Frozen', Kristoff from 'Frozen 2', Sven from 'Svengali', Anna from 'Anna Karenina'and Mikhail Turgenev's War and Peace'. Crowley, Texas was settled in 1859 by John Wesley Crowley and his wife Susannah. The town was named after Crowley's home state of New York. In 1865, the railroad arrived and the town became a center for transportation. The first post office opened in 1870. By 1900, the population had increased to over 1,500 people and Crowley began to develop as a cotton plantation town.

The name "Crowley" is derived from the Cherokee word c’wiya-a ( meaning place where lightnings flash). Crowley was founded in 1881 by John Crowley and his wife, Sarah J. Hawkins. John Crowley had been born in 1794 in what is now Delaware County, New York to a family of Scots-Irish immigrants who had come to the United States as peddlers during the early 1800s. When he was sixteen years old, John married Sarah J. Hawkins and they moved to Crowley in 1881 when John's father died suddenly and left him an inheritance worth $7500. They first built a cabin on a bend in the Trinity River before moving into an improved log house which they constructed on present-day Sheridan Road about two miles east of downtown Crowley. The original home still stands today and is used as a museum by the townspeople; it has been designated as contributing property to Greenwood Village National Historic Site since 1984. The community quickly grew around John and Sarah's home with children being born there including Alice Cramer (1892-1967), Harry S Truman (1937-1994), Dorothy Vaughan (1948-) , Clyde Tolson (1951-) ; Garth Mclaughlin (1971-) In 1888 John Cramer married Emily Jane Ladd and together they had six children: Aline Victoria Cramer (), James Raymond Cramer (), Loretta Lynn Cramer (), Eleanor Elizabeth Cramer ()ã€Nancy Elizabeth Ladd (). Aline became known locally as "The Witch of Willow Creek". Harry Truman was bom on October 12th 1937 at 6 p m . He will be forever remembered for his role as President of America!
