Forest Hill is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo metropolitan area. The pioneer settlers in Forest Hill were John and Catharine Brown. They arrived in 1853 and founded the town on a tract of land they acquired from Captain James Robertson. By 1860, the community had developed into a small farming community with around seventy-five residents. In 1865, the Browns bought three thousand acres (1 km2) of land to establish Forest Hill Ranch which became one of the most important cattle ranches in Texas for many years. In 1881, after his purchase of two thousand acres (10 km2), Colonel George Hinkle moved his family to Forest Hill and started what would become an important cotton plantation there. In 1886 he sold off eighty-six percent of his business to Harry Emerson Fenton who renamed it "Fenton Cotton Corp." After World War I, Fenton resumed operations as a fertilizer manufacturer before selling it again to Texaco in 1984. In 2000, TXDOT reconstructed four bridges over Big Creek that crossed near present day Forest Hill; these crossings formed a key link between Johnson County and neighbouring Schleicher County during this time period when big creek flooding was common due to heavy rains caused by Hurricane Floyd

The post-war years saw some growth within Forest Hills as new housing developments started to be built along with businesses such as several small grocery stores and a few restaurants which continue today. In 1965, Forrest Hill had its first parade which took place on Saturday night after Labor Day Weekend .
