Fresh roasted coffee is a centuries old tradition in Highland, Texas. Coffee beans are ground and roasted on small-scale farms near the city of Fort Worth. The first coffeehouses in the area were opened in the 1820s by Dutch traders who traded with Mexican and Texan farmers. In 1878, coffee was brought to Fort Worth from Brazil by J.D. Beal and W.H. Smith, two entrepreneurs who founded the Merchants Trust Company. By 1888, Fort Worth had more than 20 coffee shops catering to a population of over 1,000 people. In 1912, millionaire oilman Edwin Lummis invested $5,000 in a company that became the first large-scale roaster of whole bean coffee in Texas. Known as Lummis Coffee Roasters Inc., this business served premium coffees to local businesses and individuals until it disbanded in 1978 following its bankruptcy. At its peak, Lummis Coffee Roasters operated twenty-four stores across four states along the Texas Gulf Coast; however, due to technological advancements and declining demand for quality coffee, its stores ceased production by 1997. Today, Highland's only remaining roastery is located at 276 E Henderson Ave., within walking distance of both downtown Fort Worth and NorthFort Worth shopping districts

The Highland Coffee Roasters was founded in 1994 by brothers Michael and John Higgins. The company roast coffee beans from their location in the Highland Park section of Dallas, Texas. The Higgins brothers are currently the owners and operators of the business. They continue to roast and distribute their coffee throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Arlington and other surrounding areas.
Highland, Texas is a small town in the East Texas region of the United States. It is located in Collin County, about 20 miles west of Dallas. The population was 2,826 at the 2010 census. Highland is part of the Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to inhabit what would become Highland were three families who came overland from Louisiana in 1828. They named their community after Highmountain County, Scotland where they had been living before coming down to Texas. The first settler in this area was James Smith who arrived around 1836 and built a cabin on what is now Elm Street. The settlers here soon realized that there wasn't much land for farming so they began trading goods with Indians and other parts of the state for land which became available later on. In 1840, John Wesley Hardin founded an academy here which still operates today as Hardin High School. In 1845, a post office called Highland was established and started receiving mail from Fort Worth and other parts of theTX statehood movement at that time. It remained open until 1907 when it was moved to Arrington and then again to Highlands in 1911 when it merged with Richardson Post Office #521 merger into Richardson Post Office #1123 which still operates today as Highlands Post Office By 1870, many farms had been developed along Elm Street between Uptown Rd./Hwy 287/Upper Arlington Rd./Ft Worth Blvd., making up what is now Highland Village There were also two churches – one Baptist (1870) and one Methodist (1881). A school district was organized by order of Governor Harney Stanton in 1888–89 with Highland being its first school district site north of Dallas or east of Beaumont Creek Reservoirs Highway 287 passed through this area making it easy for farmers to transport their crops southward to market while also providing access to education for local children . By 1930 there were 5 stores including 3 grocery stores, 1 hardware store, 1 druggist’s store (the only such store remaining), 4 banks (4 Texaco branches), 3 hotels including 2 dance halls – all operated by private individuals . In 1933–34 a dam was constructed across Buffalo Bayou creating Lake Highlands Park - currently known as Preston Hollow Park Hwy 287 crossing Buffalo Bayou near present day Tomball crossed Buffalo Bayou just east of Preston Hollow Park forming Eunice Drive current day US 78

By 1945, almost all countries had their own type of coffee machine that could roast and package their own coffee. The world's first Turkish Coffee Bean Roastery opened its doors in Istanbul in 1954. Coffee was now being exported all over the world and it became one of the most popular commodities on Earth.

Highland, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas that was founded in 1851 as Highland Mills. The name comes from the Scottish Highlands and refers to the high mountain ranges that line its eastern border. Highland is located about an hour southwest of Austin, on the bank of the Trinity River. In 1881, two brothers named John and James Robertson acquired land near what is now Highland Mills. They started a flour mill and began manufacturing goods such as saddles, hats, and other horse-related items. In 1907, they moved their mill to nearby Georgetown which became their primary production center for a period of time before moving back to Highland in 1912. By 1916, they had outgrown their Georgetown facility and built a new one at present day Loop 410 West near Interstate 10. From this new mill site, they continued making products such as flour, oats, hay, baking powder (for breadmaking), milk products (such as cheese and cream), bicycles (made from steel wire), cigars (branded by Cuban cigar company Habanos de Nicaragua), cigarettes ( branded by Altria cigarette company ), among others until their closure in 1984 following a fire that destroyed theirLoop 410West plant. At its peak production capacity during World War II when it produced more than 1 million pounds of flour per day for military use alone; Highland also manufactured radios for USAAF bombers based in Beaumont/Fort Worth Airport
