Highland is located in southern Harris County on FM1960 near Rice University and Beltway 8. The name Highland comes from a white man's survey of the area that called it "the high ground".
There is a long and esteemed history of coffee that can be traced back to the 16th century. The first coffee beans were grown in Ethiopia, and from there they spread through Arabia to India. Coffee was first brewed in Syria in the 6th century BC. By 3000 BC, Syrian merchants had started trading with Africa and Europe, bringing coffee plants with them. In the 4th century AD, Arabs discovered Java and began trade with those areas as well. Java became an important source of spices for Arab traders and soon became known as the “Black World” due to its rich soil and ample rainfall. The arrival of Europeans in Southeast Asia also led to new discoveries of coffee trees, which allowed for a longer period of time during which coffee could be roasted properly. European traders bought Indonesian coffees from the local people while Chinese traders purchased Mexican coffees. Coffee eventually caught on as a beverage throughout much of Asia because it was considered healthy and refreshing—a trait that has continued to this day! Coffee production began in Indonesia around 1600 AD after Dutch traders discovered sugarcane growing thereabouts. After somevarious attempts at planting different types of beans (including Sumatran), Coffeens finally got their start in Java about 1700 when Javanese farmers took up roasting these newly found beans on their palm-thatched huts called kurungs or “coffeehouses” (now known as bodegas). From then on, coffeeness spread like wildfire all over Indonesia; by 1800 only Luang Prabang remained ungladly behind! By 1830,Java had become one of world’s leading producers of fine quality coffee! European settlers soon discovered that good quality coffee tasted better than watered down versions they were getting from locals across the ocean! As early as 1785 JA slingers John Fenton & his son James Fenton set out to find new sources for fine Javanish roast Kopi Gedehongan (or high quality Indonesian Coffee)— Establishing two plantations near present day Surabaya city – one at Pekalongan while another at Cilacap town – both producing high-quality Kopi Gedehongan until 1810 when windmills replaced traditional water mills owing to advances made in technology by Dutch engineers during the Batavian Revolution! These Englishmen also improved methods for taking raw produce directly into London where it was sold under various names including Johnnie Walker, Beefeater etc.—introducing along with it some subtle but unmistakable changes into today’s world-famous British style black & green tea! The story goes on…. In 1870 Turkish Captain Selim Pasha founded Kadir Hasbiyağıl Kaffeetariyetiye Ordunda facing difficulty importing excellent Javanish Roast Kopi Gedehongan even though he had connections with several noble families who supplied him with best fruit trees…he decided to plant his own coffee bean plantation using 100% Javanish seed–leading eventuallyto establishmentofthefirstcoffeeproductionStandinTurkeyIn1871!!! This event marked beginningofcoffeespecialtywithinTurkeyAndsetoffoundirecttradebetweenTurkeyAndEurope Some believe that Atatürk was actually instrumental in initiating this trend towards more developedcoffee production practices within Turkey specifically targeting Japanese tourists coming through Istanbul seeking tastes unique enough not found anywhere else….. however there is no overt evidence supporting such claims

The Dutch started cultivating coffee in Java in 1624, and trading ships carried coffee back and forth between Asia and Europe for centuries. In Brazil, the first espresso machines were built in 1821.
Highland, Texas is a small town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,873 at the 2010 census. Highland is considered part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first settler in Highland was John Riggins and his family who arrived in 1827 from Virginia. In 1851, George Waddell homesteaded on Round Rock Creek and purchased land from James Denton for $2 per acre. Waddell named his homestead "Hagride" after his mother. By 1870, there were 10 families living in Highland with a total of 102 acres (39 hectares). In 1875 William Sweeny bought 1/4 mile (0.8 km) of land east of Hagride for $5 per acre from George Waddell and built the first schoolhouse which he called "Sweeny's School". He also erected a stockade to protect his land against Comanche Indians. In 1886 Pernella Ramos became the first white woman to own property in Highland when she acquired three rods (100 m2) of land east of Hagride for $10 per year rent from her father-in-law Manuel Ramos Jr.. That same year, Scotsman Archibald MacLeod began operations as The Hogtown Saloon & Grain Exchange on Elm Street between Main and Hagride Streets. In 1902 Drayson Culp opened The Druggist on Elm Street between Main and Hagride Streets which became one of the most popular businesses in town because it sold over 20 different types of drugs including brand names such as Perrier water and aspirin without a prescription! In 1915 Elisha Sprague organized the Presbyterian Church in Highland with Revd JB Stevenson as its pastor. during World War I there was an effort by local farmers to get money raised to purchase food storage equipment but this failed due to lack of support from government officials caring about agriculture in general not Towns like Highlands! After World War I ended Scottish community leaders decided that they wanted their own place within American society so they left Scotland for America where they founded their own community here known as Edinburgh Highlanders! From 1922 until 1955 most residents came down with polio virus disease which caused many people to lose their jobs so many people lost faith into newspapers being published locally so instead some started making their own publications called Highlands Echo which continued until 1957 when Sears burned down all the buildings including The Hogtown Saloon & Grain Exchange leaving only four postcards remaining giving away information about what had happened during that time period! In 1951 Donald Fenton married Lillie Mae McLaughlin who had been born around 1923 or 1924 near Karnes City Limits, Texas when her parents were both working at Pine Land Company located about 26 miles (40 km) north west of here on ranches managed by Donny Fenton's great grandparents - Andrew McNaught McCloughlin Sr., Andrew McNaught McCloughlin Jr., John Aiken McNaught McCloughlin Sr., Patrice McNaught McLoughlin
The area now known as Highland was once a prairie village located in present-day Dallas County, Texas. The first Europeans to visit the area were the French in 1763, who discovered oil shale deposits there and named the place "Hillsborough." In 1830, Planters moved into the area and began to develop what is now Highland. The first post office was established in 1837, and by 1851, Highland had a population of around seventy. By 1870, however, most of the development had stopped due to low production from oil wells. After World War I ended with director Douglas Fairbanks's landing on Eagle Rock at Chisholm Trail Bluff in 1917 (the first American ever to set foot on British soil), Highland became an important lumber town again thanks to its ample supply of high-quality oak trees.
