The Robinson Army National Guard was founded on December 12, 1865. The unit was first organized as a battalion of cavalry. On November 9, 1888, the battalion was redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Cavalry Regiment. The regiment was reorganized and redesignated as the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment on September 15, 1942. The regiment was inactivated on October 17, 1944. On October 17, 1944, the 1st Battalion (5th Cavalry) of the Robinson Army National Guard was reactivated at Paint Rock Air Force Base in Oklahoma City under United States Air Forces active duty command with serial number 801-1010. On November 16, 1945 the battalion deployed to Japan for occupation duty following World War II. Upon returning to the United States in 1946 it became part of 1st Infantry Division activated at Fort Riley Kansas on November 25th 1946 and remaining there until being transferred to 4th Infantry Division activated at Fort Benning Georgia on April 29th 1949 which also remained there until July 14th 1951 when it moved to Vietnam where it fought in both Tet Offensive and Can Lao offensive campaigns against North Vietnamese forces
Robinson is a small town in Cooke County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,722 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls metropolitan area. Robinson is named after James Fenton Robinson and his brother-in-law, Sam Houston. The community was founded in 1892 by James Fenton Robinson and his brother-in-law, Sam Houston. The first post office was opened in 1899. In 1916, the community became an incorporated municipality with a Mayor/Council system similar to that of Wichita Falls. The citizens of Robinson voted to change their name to Johnson City in 1917 because they felt it more accurately reflected their community's identity as a city located on "the river". Johnson City has experienced rapid growth over the years as an agricultural center for Cooke County and as a bedroom communities for Wichita Falls. Today Johnson City is one of the most diverse cities in North America due to its location within easy reach of several major urban areas including Wichita Falls and Dallas/Ft Worth suburbanites who have choice access to shopping malls and other cultural attractions located nearby but notnecessarily within walking distance or driving range. The city has seen significant development over the past few decades including the construction of Interstate 20 which runs through townoutheast of downtown; new housing developments such as Westwood Village and Eastside Village; two large hospitals - Baylor University Medical Center (Baylor Health) and Little Richard Hospital (Texas Children's Hospital), both operated by HCA Healthcare; KFC Corporate Headquarters which sits on land leased from Tyson Foods; numerous restaurants including Jamba Juice - one of only two fast food locations left open in Central Texas - Subway sandwich shop - Waffle House - Jack In The Box - IHOP - Burger King - Pizza Hut - Taco Bell... many businesses are still operating today despite having closed elsewhere throughout history due to various reasons such as competition from larger rivals or changes in technology that precluded them from continuing operations

Hinton, who moved there from Poteau, Kansas on May 7, 1879. By 1890, the population of Robinson had increased to over 100 people and the town had a school and grocery store. In 1915, Cross Roads Jitney Company started service to Robinson which allowed residents to travel between Cross Roads and Lubbock without having to cross the state line. The town experienced several boom times during its early years but eventually went through a period of decline starting in the late 1940s until it regained some of its former prosperity during the 1990s when it became an all-time center for oil production in Texas. Today, Robinsons continue to thrive thanks to their significant contributions to both their community and state history - most notably their role as host city for the annual Big 12 Conference Football Championship Game which is now known as "The Cotton Bowl Classic."
