The history of high-quality coffee in Seagoville, Texas can be traced back to the early 1800s. The first recorded sale of coffee in Seagoville was made by Ishmael Smith in 1821. At that time, Seagoville was a small village located near the mouth of the San Antonio River. As the town grew, so did its coffee production. By 1870, Seagoville had an estimated population of around 110 residents and its coffee industry had become one of the most important in Texas. In 1902, John Jardine opened his first grocery store in Seagoville and began selling quality coffee beans from his farmstead. Over time, Jardine became one of the biggest supporters of local coffee culture and helped to promote and grow the industry inSeagoville. His Store also served as a testing ground for many future Coffee Brothers® businesses who would later establish themselves throughout North Texas. While John Jardine is responsible for establishing high-quality coffee as we know it today, other key players include his son-in-law Harry Bowen who founded Bowen Coffee Co., Incorporated in 1943 and remains a significant force within this industry today; as well as Don Whitehead who cofounded Whitehead Coffee & Tea Company with his brother Morris Whitehead in 1957 and continues to operate it today with over 100 employees! In 1978, Don Whitehead passed away at the age of 87 after making a significant impact on both Starbucks Corporation (now known as Amazon) and High Rock Coffee Cooperative (now Quality Roasters) which he helped create! It is through these individuals that we can appreciate just how deeply rooted this tradition has been within our community!

The Seagoville coffee history begins with the first coffee beans being roasted in 1879. The Seagoville Coffee Company was founded by John A. Witherspoon and his brother, Alex Witherspoon, in 1886. The company became one of the leading roasters in Texas during the late 19th century. In 1916, the company merged with two other companies to form the larger Seagoville Coffee Corporation. The corporation continued to produce high-quality coffee until it was acquired by Peet's Coffee Incorporated in 1984.
Seagoville is a small town located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, about 100 miles north of Mexico City. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reynosa metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1887 by James Seagoville and his family. The first post office was built in 1888. In 1903, Seagoville had a school and a store. Seagoville was named for Commodore John A. Steedman, who commanded Ulysses S. Grant's army during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). The Seagovilles were among the earliest settlers in what would become Reynosa County. In 1924, the Texas government acquired all of Tamaulipas from Mexico and gave it to Texas as part of its Reconstruction Plan following the Civil War. At that time, most white Texans living within Mexican territory were forced to leave their homes and move into Indian Territory—now Oklahoma—to avoid being taken captive by federal forces loyal to Mexico; many white Texans did not return until after General Douglas MacArthur's victory over President Porfirio Diaz at El Paso in 1945 ended Mexican control over much of southern Texas. In 1925, when new borders were drawn for that territory, Seagoville became one of several towns located within Mexicali Municipality east of Bexar County along Pecos River; Mexicali Municipality continued to exist despite becoming an autonomous city under American administration on October 15, 1920 (see 20th century United States history:Mexicali Municipality). When America gained independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1821 (see Independence Day), Mexicans working as contract labor in what would become Texan agriculture began to arrive in numbers sufficient enough to form their own settlements; these early Spanish colonists were known as anglos because they spoke English better than Mexicans and wore Anglo dress instead of traditional Mexican clothing (see also Hispanics/Latinos). James Seagoville arrived with his parents around 1847 from Gloucestershire England via New Orleans; he had married Anna Maria Gonzalez de la Garza y Valdez on December 6th that year while still living with his parents at San Fernando de Acapulco near Veracruz beach before setting off for this new land west across Bexar County towards what would become Reynosa County on August 24th 1840 accompanied by five other families including those of José Máximo Muñoz and Juan Pablo Valdés both born respectively January 1st 1840 and November 25th 1840 just north of Acapulco aboard a ship captained by José Francisco Ruiz Gomez called "Navidad". Seagoville, Texas is a town located in southwestern Richardson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The town was founded by John Sperry in 1872 and named after Captain James Seagrave of the brig "Virginia" which wrecked on the coast of Texas in 1846. When Captain Seagrave's ship reached Seagoville he saw that it might be a good place to build his boat landing so he named the spot "Sperry Landing." In 1890, Mrs. J.B. Funk donated land for a school district and in 1903 the first post office was established here. In 1951 Seagoville erected its own school building which remains today as one of Richardson County's only two extant buildings from that time period- also known as The Old School House Museum. As early as 1907 there were plans to make this community an open air museum with exhibits on local history and culture including artifacts from Mexico and Cuba which are now housed at Baylor University’s anthropology museum in Waco, TX., but those plans never came to fruition because of lack of funds until 1978 when Don Laughlin started fundraising for what would become The Seagoville Historical Museum Incorporated (SHMI). Today SHMI preserves over 50 years worth of American Indian artifacts collected by Drs Bobbi Botkin McGeehan and her late husband Tom McGeehan along with items from around Richardson County dating back to pioneer days such as saddles, cattle drives and wagon trains- making it one of the most comprehensive collections east of Interstate 10!
In 1859, the land that is now Seagoville was purchased by James Bowie and his brother, Andy. The area was first known as Bowie Ranch because it was part of the ranch given to them by their father. In 1872, the ranch became part of the Texas Rangers Department. In 1902, a post office was established in Seagoville and lasted until 1907. The first school in Seagoville opened in 1896 and operated for two years. The present day Seagoville Elementary School is open since 1957.
