Seagoville is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Seagoville post office was established in 1881 and discontinued operations in 1954. The first settler in Seagoville was Levi Pendergast. In 1907, A.J. Waddell built the first frame house in Seagoville and it still stands today as a museum piece. A post office operated under the name of "Saginaw" from 1881 to 1904 before being changed to "Seagoville." In 1927, the community erected its own lights system with twelve white lightbulbs that can be seen from Interstate 20 and several other roads near by including Highway 183 and US 75. At that time, Seagoville had just two stores and one school which closed during World War II due to military enlistments or rationing regulations. In 1946, Seagoville incorporated as a city under the jurisdiction of Williamson County - becoming one of only two towns in Texas (the other being Arlington) to do so since Prohibition ended four years earlier. That same year saw the opening of what would become home for more than fifty years - The Simmons store on Main Street which became an anchor for many businesses that have come and gone over that time span such as Bankers Trust & Company (now Wells Fargo), Ford dealership (now Ronco Automotive), Barnes & Noble bookstore chain (now Knoppers Books), Sears Roebuck department store chain (now Sears Holdings Corp.), Continental Airlines passenger service terminal(nowContinental Airlines Dallas/Fort Worth Terminal 5), Hanes clothing factory(later JB Penney), Hobby Lobby store(later Sam's Club) - all while maintaining downtown's character as a vibrant shopping destination complete with antique shops, restaurants, art galleries and more! In recent years however, much has changed as well with heavy industry consolidation Drive-thru bars taking away storefronts along Main Street while high-rise buildings have replaced most old housing stock; however some typical retail items such as banks are still available within walking distance of downtown if desired! It should be noted that this article is about large cities like Dallas-Fort Worth which have populations greater than 100K whereas smaller towns may experience fewer residents but still maintain their economies through local businesses etcetera

After the war, the Seagovilles decided to move their business toTexas and began to build a home on the property that they now live on. They were also able to purchase some land adjacent to their home so that they could continue farming their land and provide food for their families. In 1924, the Seagovilles donated $10,000 towards building a high school in Seagoville which is now known as Mount Pleasant High School. In 1961, they donated another $30,000 towards building a new school which is now known as Central Texas Community College (CTCC). More recently, they have also given money towards various other projects including creating an amphitheater in honor of James M. Seagoville Jr., funds for cancer research at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSouthwestern), and contributions towards helping with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
In 1836, the area now known as Seagoville was part of the Mexican state of Coahuila. A group of Texans led by Sam Houston seized control of Coahuila and set out to create a new Mexican nation. The Texans called themselves the Republic of Texas. In 1837, they defeated Mexico in a battle at San Jacinto and became an independent republic. In 1840, Texas seceded from Mexico and formed its own government under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. On November 20, 1840, Santa Anna issued the order for Texan troops to storm and murder Ulysses S. Grant at Baylor University in Austin,Texas. The event is commonly considered to be the beginning of the American Civil War. In 1845, Texas petitioned United States Congress for annexation into the United States. On September 14th, 1846 Congress granted annexation and on October 15th President James K Polk signed it into law.
