From 1916-1920 the Marines didn't deploy but instead took on a peacekeeping role in Mexico City. During their stay in Mexico City, they donated two rifles and some other supplies to the city's police department as well as providing medical aid to those in need. Finally from 1921-1924, the Marines deployed once again but this time they only brought back pistols instead of rifles because there were not enough rifles available for everyone to bring home.
Terrell, Texas is located in Johnson County. The population of Terrell was 8,811 at the 2010 census. It has a total area of 21 square miles. The city-county seat is Terrell and its largest political subdivision is the Terrell Independent School District. The climate in this area is classified as "warm temperate". According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Terrell has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps. According to the US Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 21 square miles (60 km²). Of this, 17 square miles (45 km²) is land and 3 square miles (10 km²) (1/3 of an acre or 0.4 hectare) are water rights. As of the census of 2000, there were 7,363 people residing in the town: 4,977 male and 3,689 female residents. The racial makeup of the town was 97% White; 1% African American; 0.1% Native American; and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 2% of all residents

In 1849, Terrell was founded by John F. Carr and James W. Caldwell, two men looking for a new place to settle. The town was named after General Andrew Jackson, who had died in 1837. The first post office was established in 1850, and the first store was built in 1852. By 1865, Terrell had a population of just over 200 people. In the early 1800s, there were several small towns located near what is now Houston; these towns merged into Houston in 1836. However, Terrell remained separate until 1865 when it became part of the newly created Harris County as part of the Texas Annexation Treaty. Terrell quickly developed into a important agricultural center due to its fertile soil and large amount of cattle ranching activities during the 1800s. After World War II ended, Terrell experienced rapid growth thanks to its status as an air force base during both Korean and Vietnam War periods (it has since been surpassed by Houston). In recent years, the town has become known for its annual Black Christmas Parade which is one of the most popular events in town each year.
Terrell was founded by Manuel Terrell in 1849. It became a county seat in 1866. The town of Terrell was named for Manuel and his wife, Maria de la Garza.
