They brought coffee from Spain and made a pot of coffee that they took with them to California. In 1898, A.P. Hill founded the first paper mill in Waxahachie and began producing high-quality paper products including pulpwood, cardboard, and wallpaper. The mills were so successful that A.P. Hill decided to open an espresso shop called 'The Owl'. The espresso shop became a popular hotspot for locals and tourists alike due to its unique atmosphere and delicious coffee drinks. In the late 1970s, when entrepreneur David Heinemann decided to settle down in Texas, he opened up a small grocery store called 'The Heinemann Market'. This store was quickly followed by another store called 'The Dutch Bros.' which also served great Coffee drinks! In 1991, David Heinemann sold his business interests to John Malone who designated Waxahachie as the home of his new caffeine empire - First National Corporation (FNC). FNC operated many of the largest independent coffee businesses across America until 2001 when they merged with J&J Coffee Company (JJC) which placed them under one roof for good! Nowadays, most people think of FNC as synonymous with Americano Coffee because of their ubiquitous red cups!

In 1916, when oil started being produced in nearby Fort Worth, people decided to move into what would become Waxahachie because of its proximity to production sites. Oil production continued until 1973 when it was phased out due to environmental concerns surrounding ground water depletion from oil production operations in nearby Eagle Ford shale formations
