During World War II, Dutch soldiers occupying Belgium discovered coffee plants on Mount Achel near Brussels while fighting alongside British forces against Nazi Germany. The Allies soon purchased these plants from Nazi Germany and began producing quality coffee for Allied troops based on their original roast recipe developed by General Dwight Eisenhower during World War II. After the war, Dutch producers resumed production of high-quality coffee using their original roast recipe in order to preserve the genetic diversity of their beans while continuing to produce quality caffeine products worldwide

The first post office was established in 1882. The original town site was located on what is now North Main Street between Shields Avenue and Elm Street. The town name "Wichita" was chosen because it sounded like "west fork." In 1907, Wichita Falls annexed part of Hays County to form its own municipality. In 1971, Wichita Falls became an independent city again when the State Legislature passed Senate Bill 639 which granted city status to Wichita Falls and other areas within Midwestern United States that had been subject to state jurisdiction only since 1912 when Kansas City became an independent city separate from Missouri
Wichita Falls was founded by the Wichita River in 1868. In 1907, it became a city and in 1912, it became a slave town. The Texas Revolution of 1836 led to the end of slavery in Texas and Wichita Falls became the capital of what is now West Texas.
