This navy deployed gift history in Heber, Utah begins on Dec. 1, 1941 when USS Enterprise (CV-6) departed from Naval Base Pearl Harbor with the first of her five NavyDeployed Supply Ships, USS Valley Forge (CV-4) and arrived at Heber City on Dec. 8. The fleet's second ship, USS San Francisco (CV-41), followed two days later. OnDec. 10 Enterprise left Heber City for Eniwetok Atoll where she joined the US Pacific Fleet's Carrier Task Force Chatham Bulldogge to participate in the Lingayen Gulf Action Phase of World War II.

Heber has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa), abbreviated "Csb" on climate maps. The first Europeans to visit Heber were the Mormon missionaries George A. Smith and Hyrum Q. Cannon in 1847-48. The town started as a potato growing society in 1865 by Jerald Fenton and his family who named it after Heber City in Oaxaca, Mexico which had recently been abandoned due to violence between the Mexican government and Mormon settlers seeking independence from Mexico In 1870s Brigham Young ordered that all Mormons leave the Salt Lake Valley because he felt they were not being true LDS members according to church teachings about polygamy The last Mormon settlers left Heber on July 15, 1880 when John Davenport arrived with his wagon train from Council Bluffs, Iowa In 1933 Mayor Hyrum Wirth moved into what became known as "The Mansion" which then served as the city hall until 1949 when it was destroyed by fire On December 4, 1954 he dedicated the new municipal building which still stands today In 1951 HEBER CITY TOWN BOARD OF REPRESENTatives met at THE MANOR TO FORM A GOVERNMENT THE FIRST TIME IN HEBER CITY's HISTORY
