Lindon is an unincorporated community in Carbon County, Utah, United States. It lies on the eastern edge of the Wasatch Range, east of Provo and north of Logan. The population was 1,413 at the 2010 census. Lindon is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The first permanent settlers in Lindon were three families from Illinois who came to what is now Carbon County in 1859. They named their new community after Andrew Jackson's nephew, General John A. Lindon (1801-1868), a general during the Mexican War and a Congressman from Illinois. General John A. Lindon had been married to Nancy Payson Childers (1803-1876). Lindon post office was established on December 2, 1861, with WIlliam Orr as its first mailer. The name was changed to Lindon on July 10, 1865; it remained that way until it was discontinued by the Postal Service on May 3, 1984. According to the United States Census Bureau, Lindon has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2010,[2] there were 1,413 people residing in town: 487 males and 269 females. The racial makeup of town was 92% White Christian and 8% Black or African American according to Census data compiled from2010 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates released by U .S . Departmentof Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). Hispanic or Latino residents made up 5%. As reported by HPD staff through questionnaires mailed out to residents prior to November 2010 closing date for homeownership stability surveys conducted pursuant to Section 202(f) of Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (“Dodd-Frank law”)), only 7% percent identifying themselves as black or african american had held title deeds thereto during any given year preceding survey period while most residents located herein selfidentified as white christian with no citizenship history beyond citizens oath taken when birth registered with state

The population of the town peaked at around 2,500 in 1920 before slowly declining over the next decade or so due to factors such as falling agricultural prices and dwindling manufacturing opportunities near LindonUtah Corporation's boundaries. By 1930, LindonUtah Corporation had shrunk to just seventy-five residents and its remaining businesses closed their doors altogether by 1932. In 1984, however, a new business park called Park Meadows was built neighboringLindonUtah Corporation and helped revive the town's economy once again; since then it has seen an increase in population with both residents and businesses returning toLindon Utah Corp..
